Hello everyone, I'm going crazy here trying to Import a BVH file. I've been to page after page, looked on youtube and lost my cool. I can't go on with out my cool now. I did just like the user guide says with no Luck at all. I should see the bvh file in the sequencer after I import the file right? well I don't. I checked all of the bones and thats cool. I've clicked on hip to see if thats the problem when importing the file and still zip. I've gone up to animation to click attach to skeleton and thats grayed out so I need to hit the right thing and I'm not. Please someone help me.... Thanks Ken Sutton

There are several things that can cause this - sometimes the bvh file is at fault. So, let's start with some 1st steps and get it figured out.
If you import the bvh file without a figure in your scene and enable the "Create new Skeleton" option, do you get an animated skeleton?

I never tried that... No not a thing. I've tried bvh hacker too and get nothing as well. Ken...

This is a BVH file issue then. Not all BVH files are created equal. Some vendors that provide BVH files for free on the Web have files with "issues".
The next step will be to try a different BVh file, preferably one from another vendor. If you have Poser, you can also animate a figure and then export the motion as BVH an import that into Carrara. Carrara and Poser play fairly nicely together regarding motion files.

sweet, see att lnk. this one is 80% correct for OS X and may be 100% correct for windows. there are a buttload of things that can go wrong, but at least this should get the bvh file into carrara, attached to obj file, and animatable. stuff like default pose, arms and legs flying all over, drop into floor are minor tweaks IMVHO.SweetKenny1 posted Tue, 21 April 2009 at 5:11 AM
Hi Mark and Miss Nancy, Well I did view the video sometime ago and did as he says with no luck. I did try a bvh from a diffrent vender with no luck at all. But! If I import the bvh into D/S (vicky) and then save it as a scene and then import that into Carrara7 it works. I don't have any other problems with Carrara 7 at all and it works fine. It's like carrara is not reading the import of the bvh file, or I don't have something checked to tell it to read the file. I've checked all the bones on the obj and made sure thats good. I've used BVH Hacker ( good program) to fix the bvh and carrara just won't import the file. I even call D/S and thay said to get the upgrade from C7.0 to C7.1 and I did with no luck at all.... so it's eather I'm not doing something or carrara has a bugg. Thanks for all youe help!!!! Oh!! It's fun finding out how the is stuff works aint it! Ken Sutton

Sounds like one of those weird ones. BVH imports on my box with C7.1.1 ok. glad you got a solution though.

On a DAZ/Poser figure in the scene, I select the hip bone, File => Import => BVH, choose "Attach to Selected Skeleton" and validate.
