I am trying to do a fairly complex texture map for a new model, but I just can't get the hang of the UV editor.  I hardly ever use the vertex modeler so I am definitely doing something (probably many things) wrong.  Can someone point me to a FREE tutorial which has step by step instructions on how to use the UV editor?  I have no budget for any pay sites so I need a free one.  Thanks

Rich

Can you show what you are trying to UV?

At the moment, I can't get the file to load anymore so I am going to have to redo it from scratch.  If you look at the render of my Sparrowhawks, it's the forward command hull section.  It started life as a simple spline object and then I converted it to Vertex so I could do the mapping.  The only problem is, I have never really gotten into the vertex room or the UV editor before and the manual is somewhat less than helpful...  That's why I need a step by step tutorial, so I can learn how to do it properly for future renders now that I am going to try using the vertex room more often.

I am a little sick those days, her eis rainning a lot. I will try to do a simple tutorial to you so you can understand better the new UVEditor. One advise is beware to converting from one to anothe rmodeler, you can end with a lot of polygons.

Yeh I noticed it creates a lot of polys.  I don't mind so much on my system though.

Not your system... the problem is that this count to render time.

I know.  I'd rather have high polys and a slow render than low polys and a lower quality render.  I am very patient. :)
