Whats shakin folks, just a few simple questions that Im sure have been asked and answered already, just that Ive been out the loop for a bit and misssed it...

  1. When using content pulled from the Poser Runtime/folder, my Poser poses dont always pose the character "all the way"... Its like close, but no cigar, and Im wondering how I can fix/adjust that. For instance, the V4 yoga poses wont "fully" apply to V4, as if it "stops" 1/2 through the pose... Whats the fix/workaround?

  2. Again, w/ content pulled from the Poser Runtime... I use alot of the older figures, but most of them wont load correctly in Carrara. The P3 Low res character comes in as just the joint rigging, the hips and his hands. This is typical for alot of the older figures, is there a way to fix this?!?

  3. (Poser content again =B) Sometimes poses wont apply at all to the standard Poser 5 characters, is there a workaround for this?!? Or is it that Daz has it so that Carrara only works w/ the Daz3D figures?!?

  4. I have "problems" using the rotate tool... Its like it has a mind of its own, it rotates too  much, or wont rotate enough or even worse, not at all... Dragging left/right up/down makes such small increments of change (or sometimes too great), is there something im doing wrong?!? It gets very difficult making minor rotations, very frustrating.

  5. Im trying to make sense of the presets set up structure. Carrara reads presets from the "my documents" folder, and leaves the other, corresponding folders blank. is that the "norm"?!? How come we have so many blank shader preset folders?!? And lastly but still related to this, what is the best method of saving/adding presets to Carrara for setting up to share publicly anyway?!?

Any help would be greatly appreciated =)

Hi. Most preset pose issues are due to the joint constraints. Carrara sets what it thinks are reasonable constraints on the movement of joints. You have to go in and set the limits to something less constrained.
I haven't tried older figures, but maybe it would work to file>import rather than drag and drop?
The fact that any presets you create go into the "my documents" folder is a blessing when updating or reinstalling Carrara. You don't have to reload your presets as well. The blank folders? Mystery...

The best way to save presets for sharing is using all folder sinside Carrara instalation path. Take a look inside your Carrara instalation path and you will see 3 important main folders:

Presets - where almost all things are like shaders, textures, objects, backgounds, clouds, atmospheres and so on.

Scenes - where all scenes need to be saved

Data - where unfortunatelly you will find presets like the leaves

So if you use this folder structure you can very easy distribut your shaders that have link to image in textures folders, if the shader only have the shader file (procedural) you can out it anywhere BUT please use the folder structure.

In the case of the Poser figures not posing all the way in Carrara, I set each affected joint to 'Ball Joint" instead of "Full", which is the default.  This takes care of the posing problem.

Thanks all for your responses =)

Im LQQKin thru my folders as "we speak", and whats blank in my shaders folders is: Basic Metals, Basic Proceedurals, Basic Refraction and Basic Transparency (maybe its set to 100% =B). I also want to see if you guys have the same thing... I have a Terrains folder and a "terrains" folder which is blank, is there a reason for that? I also have 2 "My Shaders" folders but ONLY when I try to apply a preset (actually clicking the "preset" button, NOT by drag/drop) from the scene item list panel. I just seem to have problems managing my folders, and wanted some general advice on proper maintainance...

As Far as importing vs drag/drop for older Poser content, it comes in the same..... Im thinking maybe theres a checkbox somewhere Im missing, much like trying to turn off/on genitals in Daz Studio?!?

Again, thank you all for your help!
