Just bought the two Project Viper video tutorials from KURV Studios. While they are for Lightwave, they are surprisingly easy to follow in Modo. Clay render of where I am so far. Might try a more difficult Mk2 after I finish the two tuts for this one. :)

When it comes to modelers, Modo is like an intuitive version of Lightwave, but with far better tools.

Your Viper looks perfect so far.

True. Several things in the lightwave tut took only a single step in Modo. The adjustable action
centers and workplane made some steps unnecessary. I'd like to try a battlestar, but I think
I'll try a Mk2 Viper next. It's a bit tougher than the Mk1 whereas a battlestar is a LOT harder. :)
I have both Modo and trueSpace 7.6, and while I like trueSpace, Modo is the better modeler
by FAR.

Just finished the wing assembly. Though he mentioned in the tutorial that the paneling will be done on the texture in the second part of the tutorial, I wanted to see if I could model them instead. SIGH. Now I have to panel the rest of it too, or it won't match. Such is life. :)

Just finished UVmapping the main areas of the fuselage. I won't know if I did it right until I start the texturing phase. Here's what I've done on the cockpit so far. The area behind the canopy is being redone, as in the tut, it was modeled without an opening canopy in mind. ![](http://www.foundation3d.com/forums/images/smilies/new/smile.gif "Smile")

Fuselage and engine casings UVmapped and textured. Wings and tail UVmapped, but not textured yet. :)

Current status of Viper. Some detailing in the cockpit and gear bay still needed, and some UVing, though most is done. Here it is in Modo 302.

And here it is in Poser 7.

I got the engines completed in Modo and Poser today, and what a job THAT was! I managed to get rid of almost all the smoothing errors, but a couple of areas can't take extra edges, due to the way the mesh is constructed. Fortunately, they are minor, and you REALLY have to look in order to find them. I really should have stuck with DAZ Studio. :)

Haha!  When I saw the "Viper" title I thought Dodge Viper not Galactica Vipers :)

I compute. :) It's the same thing with my current fighter. It's a Hornet, and everyone assumes an F-18, not an F-36 Hornet from the first Wing Commander game. :)
