thats it really how do i save as a .png? please
i have both 6.1.2 pro and 5.1 pro, both just updated and stuff, and i just got carrara 6pro today, hoping i could save as a .png, and i can't work out how,
can anyone help please?

Carrara doesn't save out .png files. You can export in .psd or .tga and do a batch convert to .png format wth a batch process though. That will save all of the alpha channel info.

As far as I know you can't. If you're looking for transparency you're going to have to render an alpha channel.
Check the "Render Alpha Channel" box in the File Format menu in the Options tab of the render room. Then you can save in most of the available formats and get your transparency using the image manipulation program of your choice.
I was going to recommend rendering to a .tga file but I just did a quick test and Photoshop can't open anything saved out of Carrara as a .tga. Anyone here now how to file a bug report on something like that?

Yeah, that would make sense. But nope. :glare:
BTW, Paint Shop Pro can open .tga (or the older format .psd that Carrara uses), or even Gimp opens those, so you don't necessarily need PhotoShop to get images converted to .png. Just don't forget to check that little box dwarg mentioned if you want transparancy.
