I can find BVH import, but I cannot locate FBX. The manual says it is in the same dialog, but I cannot find it there.

I'm doing a similar import of a BVH. I began by opening a Vicky, selecting her, then importing the BVH file as you indicated. Should the animation be automatically assigned to the Vicky character, if not, how do I assign the BVH to the Vicky?

I am still trying to figure this stuff out Joe. I cannot seem to import a Poser PZ3 file and play the animation either. Thanks bwtr I only have BVH import, not FBX.

I wonder if it is some kind of assignment problem.
I need to get back to Chapter 6 in the Handbook.
If you have time this week Dan, let me know.

I am ready any time you want to do a chapter tutorial together Joe. This is driving me crazy. I have 6 Pro and the FBX import is NOT on the list. I cannot import Poser animations and play them in 6 Pro either.

Make sure file types is set to all, and check mark "OPTIONS" just in case.

It imports, but I can't seem to find it, or its not assigned, or, maybe I need to go back and finish the book...
If someone would like to help, to see if they can get this file to animate Vicky and tell us how, I would really appreciate it.
I can make the file available for testing.

**FBX import does not even show up and BVH is not working. At least not on Chomper. I will have to try another character.

wait wait wait
Theres something very wrong here:
1 - the way to load CR2 file that Cryptojoe shows is for C5 not in C6 please use the Browser.
2 - What version of Carrara do you have UVdan? C6 Std?
3 - animations can be save as PZ2 files or Poses files and load in Carrara with no problem.
I am downloading the FBX file and will try here. I have the Carrara 6 Pro and here I can see the FBX import with nothing selected. I know that FBX file can handler everything mesh, textures and animation... lets wait the download finish.

others character. The problem is that the actors Here we go... the file opens fine, looks that it have only keyframes BUT dont work in Vic files orin the FBX dont have the same name as Vic bones so they will never work.
Here: in Vic the head is called "head" but I cant find the same name in the FBX actors, all actors in the file begin with "C3D:" and no actor in Vic begin this way...so they will never work. the same happens to BVH motions, if the actors dont have the same name Vic will never move...
Thats help someting? About you dont see the FBX importer is that you have the C6 Std version and not the Pro.

Thanks GKDantas. I have C6 Pro. I just checked and I WAS launching version 6 instead of 6 Pro. I will have to try this all over again. Maybe my eyedropper tool works now too. Thank you so much GKD!!

Yes, GKD, thank you.
Dan gave me a link to some free stuff at a Japanese site. Walk sequences labeled in English as Drank instead of Drunk...
I really appreciate your response, and we both have C6 Pro
