Hi all,
with all the previous versions of carrara i have used a folder called "textures" in my 2nd hard disk (installed on the machine). When i try to load an image file with C6 i got an "open error" message. Someone know more about it?
Thanks

Can you browse through C6 to the folder?
If not, browse there by hand or use the search function for one of the texture names you know for certain in order to obtain a good address.

Yes, i can browse correctly and i can select every file that i need, the problem is that every file on the "other" disk give me an error. If i move the folder with the textures on the startup disk everithiìng work fine, but because i use the same folder for all my apps i don't want to move it.

Hi Toxe, I haven't heard of this one before. Is it just one format of image or all kinds? Mark

Hi Mark,
for now tested with jpg, tif, png. I think is enough! It seems a stupid little problem, but believe me i can't find a solution!

You win the prize for strange problem today. Joy. Have you tried copying the contents to a new directory or alternate disk and then trying loading? I can't even think of a reason that certain file types would suddenly start being rejected. It almost seems like it's a permission/authorization thing.

Ah, good, at least i win a prize!
So, do you mean move the folder on a "alternate" disk (another one, for example an exteral firewire hd)? No, I haven't tried. It's a strange thing that happens only with carrara 6pro, i've tried with C4 and it works fine. But the problem appear with all the files in the TOXE 120 (it's the name of the HD), not only with the folder. I'll try with an external disk... Permissions are right...
Thanks Mark

It sounds like a bug. Are you using Mac or PC version? I'll give it a try to duplicate the problem on my system (Mac [Leopard], C6P), but probaby won't be in front of the machine until much later today.

Man, I don't know what to suggest. I'm running the same configuration and haven't experienced this problem. is the permissions for the texture folder set to "Read & Write".
TOXE posted Mon, 21 January 2008 at 9:03 AM
Hi Mark,
yes, set correctly to "read & write".... I need to copy my folder to the startup disk (7 gigabytes...).

I guess the only other thing that I'd look at and make sure is enabled/activated then is the "Apply to Enclosed Items" for the permissions on the folder. I have to ask, you're running 6.0.3?
TOXE posted Mon, 21 January 2008 at 10:56 AM
Of course, the option is enabled and i have no problems with other softwares. Yes, i'm on 6.0.3... I've tried also to put C6pro on the other HD (where i have C4pro) but the problem is still there. The only thing i can do is to move the folder to my startup disk. Mark, have you tried to load textures form an external disk? It work on your machine?

All my textures are on external disks and load fine. That's why I'm scratching my head and wondering what's going on. :-/

Arggh! I've tried also deleting the preferences. Nothing. The only solution for now is to move my textures. Thanks Mark

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back on this. I tried reproducing your problem and can't do it. I have put textures in folders on two different drives (one external fire-wire drive and one internal SATA/2) and Carrara seems to be reading them just fine.
Have you ever been able to read textures from the second drive in C6?
My only other suggestion would be to reinstall Carrara. Something might have gotten funky in it somewhere.
Good luck, and keep us posted; I'm curious about this one.

Hi Dex
it's impossible to reproduce the problem, because no one know what happened! Maybe, reinstalling Carrara is the best advice. The only thing that i havent tried is to repair permissions with disk utility...
Thanks
