Dynamic Hair with shaders in play
V4 with default shadertree by face_off
SSS shader engaged on skin
AO engaged
4 shadow buffer spots with soft shadows enabled
no GI (except AO)
No postwork except signature and save as .png
Rendertime on modest rig and intermediate res settings: 6 hours 20 min
This is the promise of Carrara. I love this hair engine. Daz please fix (or release fix of) 'Vibration' bug so we can put it in motion with collision.

GKDantas, here is the link to my exploration to the problem. If you have any insight or help (or anyone), please chime in....

links to two prior threads about the problem are given in the first post
basically....with collision on you cannot get hair to stop vibrating, no matter what the settings.

Damn that looks great! How long did it take to render?
operaguy posted Fri, 21 December 2007 at 6:02 PM
6 hours 20 min
AMD 3500+ (single processor)
2 GIG RAM
Twin Raptors in RAID-0
XPPro
I probably could get the rendertime down without much loss of quality through experimentation.

6 hrs?......1 figure and no GI...
That seems outrageously long time.
Friends don't let friends use booleans.
operaguy posted Fri, 21 December 2007 at 7:35 PM
It's not 1 figure, it is 20,001 figures.
20,000 LONG strands of hair with each with 50 segments, 1-pixel anti-alias, hair casting and receiving shadows from 3 of 4 lights, AO (which is GI actually) on every strand ...that will do it.
I don't care on a still; just render overnight and what the hell.
I am just the opposite on animation. 22 seconds per frame is my limit.
