Has everyone seen Vast Landscape by HowieFarkes? This is one of the best virtual landscapes I've ever seen, and it was rendered in Carrara. The artist used GeoControl to shape the terrain, but the materials and trees are native to Carrara. Clearly, Carrara has a lot of potential when used skillfully.

it's very good IMVHO. can't tell if it's the same tree, replicated many times, or if there are several trees, each replicated many times. but I'm guessing that thousands of different trees would require more RAM/disk space than is currently available. altho I recall some japanese company was alleged (by my local newspaper) to be making a computer with 10,000 trillion calcs per second, for the amazing price of $6 billions. I'm guessing that the newspaper got both figures wrong.

GeoControl is amazing for any renderer that needs landscapes.
