Is it possible to create hair using multiple material zones? If so could you tell me the sequence.

Hi LLL, A material zone and shading domain are the same thing in Carrara. You can designate hair to only grow from shading domains that you want. If you'd like to have significantly different chacateristics to the hair on a a single character, then what you do is insert multiple hair objects, link them to the same character but then specify different shading domains for each hair object.

Like what Mark said, but you could also have the hair object attach and show on the same domain, but change the properties of each hair -e.g. some long, some short, etc. The shading domain is assigned in the vertext room - select faces from the object and assign (rt tool set) a new shading domain, then if you like, assign a shader... this can be used instead or with UV mapping. Question of my own - would you assign domains for export into Poser when setting up zones for rotation/ body parts?

Thanks so much. I am going to try this again. I have remapped my scullcap in UVmapperPro so I am hoping I can use the material zones rather than having to select the vertex rows.

This may be a related question.  I recently purchased C6 Pro.  I've been trying to work with hair, but so far have been very unsuccessful.  For example I add UV based hair to V4's head, then add guide hairs, do some brushing/drapping, but just when its is starting to look some what "under control" I get bold spots on top of the head.  Can anyone point me to a hair tutorial or give me some clue as to what I may be doing wrong.
