Hello folks, I am a long time Poser user and new to Carrara (I like Carrara renders a bit better). I must be getting old, but I could have sworn I saw a thread earlier where someone explained how to import a Poser 7 scene into Carrara, can someone direct me to this thread?
I am unsuccessful in importing my figure, textures into Carrara except the floor (with no textures) contained in the scene.
Thanks a bunch,
Boeing

some of them are saying it won't import a pz3 file created by poser 7. others are saying earlier versions of it are needed, along with either transposer or transposer 2. my method is to start up c6pro, go to file/new and select a 3000 - ft. scene, go to file/import and navigate to pz3 file created by P7, then wait as progress bars appear at the top of screen. everything comes in giant-sized, in cases where c6pro doesn't crash. I don't have transposer 1 or 2.

Thanks Miss Nancy, I will give this a try. One thing I must say is that the renders and lighting appear to be much better with Carrara. I have been exporting the obj out of the scene and trying to re-assemble them in Carrara, but your way sounds better.
Thanks,
Boeing

in my case, it can only import P7 pz3 files consisting of primitives or early characters (p4woman) which don't have obz files located outside the geometries folder. tried to import jessi.pz3 and all I got was the skullcap. tried to import miki.pz3: caused carrara to crash. sydney.pz3 came in empty. I think I've got transposer, just didn't install it, but then they're saying it doesn't work with P7. the main thing it can do (in my case) is import runtimes into content tab and open cr2 files from said runtimes.

I also need to figure out hair and eyelashes (trans maps) and I'll be OK. Looks like my workflow will be Zbrush (morphs and mapping), Poser (Posing), and Carrara for rendering.

HI, I had problems importing PZ3s saved by P7 until I tried deleting all the poser lights then resaving them as PZ3s from P7 and have had no problems since, though I haven't imported any complicated multi-object scenes yet.

tbird, the pz3 files I imported successfully (primitives and p4woman) had lites in them, which carrara ignored. I deleted the lites from the more complicated pz3 files and they still didn't import. all of said files had obz geom reference files in non-standard locations.
