Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Dec 11 9:41 am)

Basements are tricky. If you're just going to use the house yourself,
no problem.... but if you're going to sell it, bear in mind that the Poser
ground doesn't have any "excavations". A view of the house from the
outside with the basement windows visible will show nice green yard
inside the basement, and characters will be cut off as they climb the
stairs.
So you'll either have to tell the user to avoid filming inside and outside
at the same time, or else provide a yard that fits around the house,
with a hole for the basement.
Shameless plug: Here's a house from my 1950's Suburb product,
showing the problem (above) and the solution (below).

Hmmm, is this going to be a real house that you are planning on living in or a virtual 3D one?
"It is good to see ourselves as
others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi
just a 3d one for personal use, both for practice in modelling/texturing, and (soon) practice in rendering realism - if at a later time when it's done, and someone wants it, they can have, or i sell, though never sold stuff before ;p
ockham - the ground doesnt matter to me ;p i am going to be making my own yard when the time comes (hair room grass and all lol, which accually i think i'll be modelling in terragen)
ease of modelling isn't an issue, and fireplace i'm pretty sure will be against a wall in the living room, just can't decide where (usual brick fireplace, not firestove with a pipe to the roof).
so just a matter of where to put stuff, or do them at all, that i can't decide ;p

1) game room (or 2nd living room), open to living/dining 2) master bathroom 3) master bedroom 4) 2 car garage 5) living room (with stairs to 2nd floor) 6) dining room 7) kitchen 8) "east side" of the house, coming soon with small bedroom and a spare room for 2nd floor, with a 2nd set of stairs, a small bathroom, and a library/study, and small spare room on lower floorissues to attend to
A) where to put the fireplace? leaning towards wanting it in the living room! lol but where?
B) roof is the usual 2 slants that meet at the middle (which is highest point), leaving almost enough room for a 3rd floorroom on either end of the house (living/dining ceiling is all the way up to the roof, so a 3rd floor would be split in 1/2) but not enough for a full room (ceiling runs into roof slant), or just leave it? seems like wasted space
C) basement? do i want one? -_^ i'm kinda trying to assign a use to every room i make, and can't really think of a use if i add a basement, but kinda feel like having one, hmm
