Is it one of Brians days? I am at a complete loss at how to apply/use some if the Shoestring shaders. In particular, at the moment, The Spokes and Shadow Pass filters.
Help please!

Hi bwtr, Shadow Pass is used at the top level of the shader tree. If you go to where you select Multichannel, you'll find the Shadow pass option there. Essentially it's a "hide" feature that still allows a shadow to be cast from an object. This is a nice feature to use when blending photographs and 3D in Carrara. Spokes is typically used as a blender with the Mixer feature in the shader tree. (However, I've used it the Alpha Channel quite a bit) It can be animated over time. In the color channel you can make radars, clocks, propellers, hypno-beams... Mark

Thanks again Mark. Finding the Shadow Pass in my long list in the dropdowns took me a while (right down in a special list at the bottom) but I would never have though to use where you suggested.
Lots of fun to be had with the Spokes now BUT can you explain what you mean by "radars" and "hypno-beams" please.?
Hypnobeams? My poor old brain boggles!

Well, radar scopes would be a serious usage where you might imitate the green, swooping pass made by the radar sweep on a monitor in an air traffic control tower. Now the Hypnobeam, that's pure, cheesy B-quality science fiction. Think "mad scientist with magical device that hypnotizes hapless victims" :-D

OK. Radar scopes in green I understand (I think!)
But the mental jump from????? to green men scoping along radar beams out in space--well, frankly, leaves me on a "moon beam" looking at the man.
