How can c5pro procedural shaders be exported and imported so that shaders can be made and exchanged among c5pro users.
I can't seem to find any info in the pdf manual when I search shader import or shader export, returns 0 results.

when you drag a shader down to place in the library, example place would be "My Shaders"

the files can then be found (default, not sure if changable, probably is) in
C:Documents and SettingsMy DocumentsEoviaCarrara 5My PresetsMy Shaders

above location is dependent on many things, windows xp screenname, unless one wasnt
set and all users use the same, it would be in "All Users", prefered location, i'm sure is an
option in C5 that can be changed, and this is assuming you run winxp too :) other OS be dif

another way to find, would be remember the name of the shader when you save it
say you name it "My first shader", then just use the search for files option, and search for
the file "My first shader.cbr" which you can just copy/paste to a new location if you want
or leave it, and just view the path to the file for future refferences

Thanks Anxcon. That's what I had to do.
So then Am I right in assuming that there is no shader import or export button in carrara?
Also can a mac user use my windows produced shader?

not sure if a mac uses the same files, my guess would be no, but no real clue =P

as for importing, i think placing the files in a folder for carrara to see is the only way
poser, along with other 3d software i used, was the same way, and saw the shader
file when the program started, adding it to its library, unlike models whic you could import

import is more for loading information from other software, so doesnt surprise me that
C5 shaders arent in the list, while models, which are in formats many apps use, are listed
problem with doing this to shaders, is every program is different, 1 shader in poser6,
no matter how simple, can't be remade 100% in carrara, and while carrara allows you
to import scenes with shaders, the shaders don't get translated to perfection
thus the reason to make shaders from scratch in the rendering app, same for lighting

using import for carrara shaders is kinda dumb tho, just drop in the correct folder
to start with, and library has access to them all, 1 click away

The browser files are compatible between Mac and PC. As long as the folks you share it with have the same plug-ins you used to build the shader (if you used any plug-ins).
