I still have it. You might try running in XP's backwards compatability mode. I haven't had it loaded since 3 or 4 computers ago.

I still run it occasionally with the latest Windows XP update. I haven't set it up any differently from my other programs and I've had no problems at all.

The only problem I had with it was that you had to have a certain default printer installed to avoid getting and error 4, if I recall.

I have Ray Dream Studio 5.0 (Mac) I remember it required the 5.5 update to run in Mac OS 9.X (5.0 only ran in Sytem 8.x) Carrara has come a long way since the Ray Dream (and Infiniti-D) days!

I was a long time Ray Dream user, versions 4, 5 & 5.5. I purchased Carrara 1 when it came out, but was put off by the non standard interface, so until recently, continued to use RD 5.5 on my Athlon 2600+, 1 gig ram, XP and nVidia geforce card. I recently gave it away to someone getting started in 3D, as I bought Carrara 3 on EBay for under $40 and loved it so much I upgraded to version 5 a month later. RDS 5.5 ran fine in XP, but I have an nVidia card, so I think the problem is your graphics card. If you don't have Carrara I suggest you check EBay. They usually have 3 or 4 new in the box version 3s for sale, average price: $38.00. You can then upgrade to version 5 at Eovia if you like.

Lol I still use it when I need a simple model done to bring into C5. I like its modeling interface for spline modeling better. I find that it is still a very useful program and run=s great on my new system, Athlon 64x2 3800, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 6600TD 256MB PCIE card etc..
