3D World magazine included a free version of World Builder on cd (v3.6) with the latest issue. Has anyone had a successful experience exporting .3ds file from World Builder into Carrara 5 Pro? My first attempts have been less that adequate. None of the tree geometry or texture materials imported into Carrara.

Are you sure the files are not 3dsMAX? I presume it is just a test exercise because you have no need for that programme as you have Carrara. Secondly, is it a free or TRIAL version which usually dont include export capability.

I downloaded a 3.5 manual. I read that it exports in a particular version of 3ds (only), which may be the problem. Also I see a note that you have to tick various items to get included in a download. That "particular version" is Autodesk 3dsMax as I read the search.

Is Carrara asking for the JPG images that are exported with the 3DS files (if any)? Sometimes they are not in the same folders.

According to the magazine blurb it is a complete version of World Builder with just a plant library not included so it can fit on the free disk. I found out after I posted that it exports to 3ds max. It will export to Lightwave. Carrara will import LW data...I'll check to see how this works. Thanks!

Yeah I would go obj or lwo. It is the pro version missing the plant library. Not a trial.
No need to think outside the box....
Just make it
