Hi -- DAZ has XFrog plant libraries on sale right now, and I was wondering if anyone had used them in conjuction with Carrara. I was specifically wondering how they might work with the replicator function in C5. I haven't received my copy yet (still waiting for the box set!), so I'm not familiar with it, but it seems like it would be a good match. If anyone has any experience with the XFrog plant libraries and Carrara, I'd be interested in hearing about it. Thanks!

I have all volumes of XFrog, it is expensive to own. I purchased it about 5 years ago for my other projects. Some plants are too big for PC to handle. For some project that does not require fancy plants, I would rather to use Carrara or Vue plants. You could make unique plants with these applications with some limitations. XFrog application can be headache sometimes because it have some plant complex geometery tools.

I used Xfrog plants in my last pic....around 1000 per mtn(2 mountains) using the surface replicator & no problems on my machine :) I made the leaves transparent so I could have dead trees.

Thanks for the quick replies! GWeb: I know the plants are expensive -- I was interested because they have some very specific plants that I don't think could be created within Carrara. Also, the texture mapping seems really beautiful. I didn't think you could use Vue plants in Carrara -- I thought they were some other file format. Am I wrong? If there's a way to use them, I'd love to hear. Thanks again! dlk30341: You sure know your way around trees! I looked in the gallery for the picture you were referencing, but I don't think I found it. Anyway, it seems you made the XFrog trees work, so it might be worth a try. Thanks!

I need to check with my XFrog library CD to see what formats are in it. I recall in past days I had to use XFrog to open it and export it in RDS or OBJ. I am not sure but I will get back to you later tonight when I get home.

I imported straight 3ds & had no tweaking at all to do...textures came in fine.... The pine ups front are from RDNA....the ones in the back are Xfrog pines with tranparent leaves :)
