you would need to model the clothing in something else pretty much any 3D modelling program that would let you make them will work (ok, I know that is a really bad explanation just to say - whatever works) things like maya, lightwave, 3D Studio Max... depending what you use you would model them differently, if you wanted a hat you could probably just create it from a box, and keep adding more detail for something more "flowing" like a dress, what I use is "Stitch" which is a plugin for 3D Studio Max, it allows you to draw the "dress patterns" like you were making a real dress, then position these on the figure, and it pulls the seams that you tell it should be sewed together towards each other until it is fitting on the figure. You can then add gravity, and the dress will hang off her. Of course this can also be used for shirts, pants etc. but not for things like shoes hope that was some help I'm sure others will have better suggestions =) Tony

It depends on how much money and time you want to spend. There are a couple of free modelers that are decent, a few very nice inexpensive (<$200) modelers, a fair number of powerful midrange tools ($200-1500), and a few very powerful, extensible and expensive tools (>$1500). In general, the more powerful and expensive tools are harder to learn, as they give you more ways of doing something. Most have evaluation versions that allow you to see how they work and see if the work sequence drives you crazy. Cinema 4D, Rhino, Strata, Milkshake, Nendo, and Blender all have free or evaluation versions you can try. (There are proably others, this is hardly an exhaustive list.)
