Subject: a "good" trojan virus?

A new Trojan horse is serving as a moral guard of sorts, displaying text from the Koran if users visit what could be a pornographic Web site, Sophos warned on Monday. references: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojyusufalia.html http://techrepublic.com.com/2100-1009-5851679.html ~rotflmao~

Hopefully they aren't displaying the "sword verses".

Hey, I'm just kidding! But I also read that some scammers are sending out the newest virus (name unknown) in e-mails purporting to be asking for donations for the hurricane victims.

Hmm, I wonder what this trojan will do to a Renderosity visitor?

You know what is right for you. I know what is right for me.

naw it's actually a rather innocuous verse. then your mouse gets locked into a "cell" and you have to reboot too get control back. keyboard not affected. ( saving of data possible ) no rewriting itself all over the system. delete the actual .dll and edit the registry to clean it. but harmelss fun, for a virus.

Jaqui,I tried to access your post about this on PP, but could not read it (or any post for that matter) as PP gave an error each time. :(

"..but harmelss fun, for a virus." Not that harmless, and no fun at all, if you're trying to access a totally inocuous or academic site that happens to contain one of the words that this impertinently holy bluenose disapproves of (and what the hell is "jegger"?). This might not be as damaging as many other trojans, but it's more intrusive than spam and you still have to edit the registry to get rid of it.

quote- "It's a piss poor sword that dosn't point both ways" Harmless fun huh- imagine the moral outrage if it was athestic quotes, or quotes from Mao's little red book. impertinently holy bluenose - I like that :P

Look... if it takes MY time to remove it, it is not harmless.

Amen hauksdottir, and it probably does more than just display verses from the quran.

I've heard of a number of "joke" or "harmless" viruses -- like the old yankee doodle virus -- which made your PC play a midi version of "Yankee Doodle" at 5:00 in the afternoon every day.

Likewise, I remember the old cascade virus -- it made all of the text on your monitor fall to the bottom of the screen in a pile.

And of course, everyone remembers the old "stoned" virus -- although that particular virus wasn't exactly harmless in its effects. IIRC, it caused black squares to pop up on your screen. Each square contained a message saying something like: "Your computer is stoned, legalize pot".

Great stuff. They just don't make 'em like they used to.........

Verses of Koran?, bad virus! A good virus is with verses from the Bible, if you turn on your computer on Saturday there appears a message "how dare you to work on Sabbath!" and the computer is shut down until Sunday.

Stupidity also evolves!

Verses of Koran?, bad virus! >A good virus is with verses from the Bible Whats the difference? Isn't the Koran the 1st 5 books of the old testament?
