This is sort of a combination of one of Rochr's images and the image at the link, with a bit of me thrown into the mix. I'm going to deviate considerably from both pix in the final product, but I thought I'd throw it out here for now to see what you guys think. =)
Bryce render with minor postwork in Paint Shop Pro and a bit more postwork in Universe. Over 5000 cubes here, plus a bunch of spheres for the volumetrics in the sky.

I wonder how big it will be the file in the end. This remainds me on the Blade runner city :) It looks cool :)

Universe hey, very handy for those reflections my friend. Not sure about that particular mat reflecting so much light though. Been trying some blockage myself lately, how you doing it? Nice job Robert.
I never intended to make art.

tantarus-- Thanks, never seen Blade Runner actually. Gotta put that on my list. ;) Sans-- It's partly just kind of feeling where the blocks should go (sorry, I'm not sure how else to put it), and partly using the randomize function in Bryce. That's how I did the background building (which I'm going to change probably) and the "flooring"; just create about 30 or 40 cubes, and then use random 3d scatter size (but not rotate). Do it a little at a time, and then do some manually, and viola!! You have a block that can then be duplicated, rotated, and put in a grid to form a larger block. =) As for the reflections... it's white, so I think they are justified. =) It's just for effect anyway. I'm not sure how it would look in real life, but I would imagine glaringly bright (they are bright white after all =P). Thanks very much, my friend. =)

Hmm, yes, I did notice actually. Although it does look better textured (I'll get to that). =)

the blocks? random tool? hmm..is this in Bryce, or something else? There's something very similar to this in Blender called Discombobulate, which is one of the only 2 things in Blender that I've found useful so far (old habits, and Wings, y'know..;). But this looks much more controlled. A tutorial would be interesting..hint, hint..;)
