Hi folks, just want to show what I am currently doing with Carrara (and Baker/Deeper) and Photoshop (for the textures/maps). It is meant to become the new interface for the site of the CommunicatieGarage, the studio I own with some other people. This is what I made today and I am pretty happy with how it is turning out. Right after this I will post the design I made in Ilustrator, from wich I am taking vector information to model. I think I will use Hexagon in the process too.

By the way, I made a new texture for the large back panel, and again with a 'normal render' of a couple of extruded cilinders as the 'Deeper' bump texture, this time straight. On that normal bump, I put a little distress via a subtracted texture map. That has it's effect on the render time, but it is easy to make an interesting looking construction fast this way. I started an 'everything to the max' render at 2400 px last night, but I cancelled it, as you can see. Too much time, for an in-between thing. All parts are moddelled now, I will work on it today, probably.

The model is improvisded after looking at reference material. The spot wasa a bad idea, this render proves, and the glowing cilinder is visible too... But this still shows where I am now. Probably will choose a different font for the words on the button. And actually the plans for the website are now geared toward using the elements of the radio, without depicting it literally. I think it will end up somewhere after all, maybe the whole radio will be the 'HOME' button after all... I used UV Mapper (the OSX version) to get the mapping for the square buttons right. Kind of. Next time I do not want gaps in my maps, and I will un-rotate the items before exporting.

This really did come out nice. I'm impressed with the highlight on the main buttons. -Kix

This is the interior lighting I wanted. The actual site will surely containt all above parts, but with a better font. The anisotropic light on the large round buttons is a Shaders Pro thing (and a HDRI from Dosch), if you meant that, Kixum. On the square buttons it is partly painted in and enhanced by putting a 25% brightness version in the Glow channel.

Wow, you have done a great job on this. I love the feel and textures. Two comments, and I hate to make them because the image is wonderful. The texture on the outer edge of the silver seems a little noisy. If you are going for aged and a little pitted the it might be too shiny for that. Also, I'd like to see a version rendered with the camera maybe isometric or maybe a lens at 100+, then zoomed in. Please don't take these as crits, just suggestions - the image is really great as it is. Patrick

Hi all, This is the render we went to a internet programming/scripting/flash wizardy practicing company to. They think it is going to rock. It looks like I am going to do a lot of cutting and pasting and render-passing to get things moving and glowing. Fun, if I can find the time. Luckily my business partner is returning from France next week! Thanks for watching and the kind words (I even took some in account)!
