"What 3D Program Should I buy?" Not one person here can really tell you what's best for you, as everyone has their own taste in workflow. Try the demo or learning edition of the program you're interested in, this is the only way to find out which programs you like.
JPG image re-sizing skills are a must. And now that her head is shaved, her head should be super easy to model.

I have just decided to take my first stab at modeling the human head. I am planning on using reference photos of Natalie Portman for my project. My question to you is this, do the photos have to match up perfectly? I found good front and side shots of the beautiful Mrs. Portman, but no matter how much I scale one, the facial features will NOT match up 100%. I can get the chin and eyes to fit, but then her lips and nose will be off. Will it still be possible to tackle this project with what I have?
Oh yeah, Ill be using Wings3D if it matters at all.
Thanks,
Seth
