I received my copy of Poser 6 earlier today and wrote up a review! (Yes, there are a few screen shots of the new features.) The bottom line- MUCH better than Poser 5. It hasn't crashed on me at all and there are a number of features for the Poser 4 users who just want to create an image and don't want to fool with all the Poser 5 complexities... like me. Good review. I recommend it for anyone considering buying Poser 6.

I finally got 6'ed this morning. Strongly agree that the 'simple' material room is a great idea. All the good parts from 5, like visible results and easier color selection, and none of the bad parts (nodes). Focus and dialogs are improved; finally got rid of the annoying delay before buttons work, and the Python palette, nearly useless in 5 because of focus problems, is back to functioning. I might actually switch this time!

Good review, John, but either I missed it or you did not say what your hardware is.. makes a lot of difference in the render time. My 64 bit AMD renders FAST with those IBL lighting things... can't say I liked the flattened sort of luminesant (spell?) look of James in most of those lights, but then I was just experimenting to see what those lights were... I noted that P6 STILL tries to save where ever it was last..where IT WAS... not where you were saving... so if you are not careful, as always with poser, you can export an image to your textures in some folder there, etc.. kind of thought the new version would at least have a memory of where to save renders between sessions....and wish it had the "last opened files" thing most software does... I do believe it has LOTS of potential for very very beautiful (the best yet in poser) renders... but would take a lot of experimenting/learning...I have not even FOUND the "graph" thing for render settings...yet! :) I know I will keep tip toeing back into it and who knows what the future holds with updates etc..
