You can import ai files into carrara's spline modeler , drop in a Sline object , then File/Import a cross section or sweep path. I always use ai files 3.0 but others should work.

Hello N-3D, In Adobe Illustrator CS choose: Export>Illustrator Legacy (ai)>Version 8 or older. Mark

N-3D,

Carrara will only import Illustrator paths into the Spline modeler, not images/bitmaps. Paths "Saved" in Illustrator will not work, they must be exported as Legacy AI.

If you want paths from Photoshop, choose the options shown above.

N-3D, What language do you speak? Let's get someone connected to you in the same language. I think that is why we are missing something. :) Mark

I see the problem.

Unless there is a path in Photoshop, no paths will be exported to Illustrator. Photoshop will not convert bitmaps into paths. You can trace the shape with a pen tool, however.

Vector masks need to be converted to a path prior to exporting.

hi mark

2 ways: 1. select "fill cross section" in the Cross Section option dialog. This only works if the paths are joined. 2. make sure that the paths are actually joined. An open shape usually means the paths aren't connected.
