Well this started out as a project to build a model with flapping wings as a test for the new vector motion blur. That test will be done! However, building this model has also sparked the deep need to generate an image that's been floating around in my head for about 3 years and the time has come. The first major component was the nasty little mosquito. While I'm not totally happy with the model, I had very little references to go by and this is where I landed. About 10 hours of work. It will suit me ok. -Kix

10 hour that is alot of work for this model. 1) The wing needs very thin veins almost invisible. But the vein have some shininess 2) The legs have too many hair. I think mosquito do not have any hair on legs. 3) Eyes shader are great. The head needs a new shader. 4) Body probably need some hair (very few) and needs a new dirty brown shader. I hope that helps. I have no comment about your last spider because I think it was a great artwork.

Do an image search on google.com for mosquito and you will find several excellent close-up photos. Here are 2...

Looking at these two photos, your model is pretty good. If it is only a test for wings and motion blur, then the only thing I'd recommend changing is the mouth part... it should not curl.

Dont forget hairy antennae! Nice so far.

I like. I'd make the hair less dense and longer. I'd also texture map the wings. Looks good though!

About the mouth part I think it should curl little bit farther inside the head as you can see in one of the images.
