Well, I never thought I would do it, but I did. Mozilla Firefox. Tabbed browsing (any number of pages open in the same window), faster image and page loading, built-in popup stopper, the works. still have to find ONE thing that this free browser doesn't have with which IE can beat it.

and here's a dandy little tut on how to import everything from internet explorer, including browsing history and favorites :)

Can you connect to Windows Update with it? right now that's the only reason I've still got IE on my machine.

Another cool thing about the browser is that you can snag anything (and I mean anything) by going to tools>page info>media. It's cool for getting embedded flash files n' stuff that take time to download from slow/busy sites. This is really good for those things you like to watch a lot, but where you don't care for the long download. Once they're on your 'puter, the internet download part isn't much of a factor.

oh, that's perfect for those 'no right click nutters' websites :)

Yeah it is. :D "No right click? Oh yeah? Is that right? Like it does anything. Heheheheh..." (Not like it mattered before anyways. Most of the time PrtScr or some other screen grabber program still worked. And they thought they were "smart" in the process of wasting their time coding some javascript or whatever.) This feature is also good for reverse engineering vector animations and the like, since the actual file is on the computer and you can then go in and see how layers n' stuff are set up. (Provided you have the right software.)

btw, i'm having a problem with my chatroom (phpmychat). everytime i try to enter a /command it tells me that javascript operation isn't allowed or something. i have javascript enabled, is there any way to disable javascript checking for that website?

Been uzing Mozilla since the third beta test =) great browser, my favorite. I still use Internet Explorer for some pages, just because I'm too lazy to setup the plugins (woops) but other than that, it's great! Tabbed browsing is the best.

drawbridgep ( ) posted Sat, 14 August 2004 at 5:35 PM

Downloaded it earlier and I like it. It transferred all my bookmarks without probs. The media thing is cool too. I used to see the "no right clickers" as a challenge more than a deterent. View source normally finds the location of the image anyway.

I've made it a mission in life to convert as many people away from MSIE as possible. :)

ysvry ( ) posted Sat, 14 August 2004 at 7:20 PM

the no right click pics and flash movies can be found in the ie temporary internet files cache so no need for mozzilla the times i tried netscape it always was buggy and incompatible with options of ie so u can keep it .

for some free stuff i made
and for almost daily fotos

Ornlu ( ) posted Sat, 14 August 2004 at 7:31 PM

Why are you comparing netscape to Firefox? Similar basis, however, mozilla has every option that IE has and then some.

I use Opera personally, might look at Firefox sooner or later. Down with IE!!!

We were discussing this at Siggraph (browsers) Some Firefox users could not see our forum headers correctly. Does the Bryce forum header look alright to you Firefox users? AgentSmith

looks the same in both IE and Firefox - sometimes I can see the banners, sometimes not. At the moment, not!

Just tried Firefox, not impressed so I uninstalled it. Now I can`t get IE back as my default browser. None of my desktop web shortcuts work. Any ideas appreciated.

start IE then click tools, then internet options.

About half way down the Programs tab is the reset web settings button, that'll do the job for you :)
