You need to choose the reflection plane. If you are on a mac you can press command+option and click the plane you need directly. This is the fast method, ehm, no is the method that i use often. In addiction you can click on the right plane using the icon on your left. See the image. Have a nice day. -TOXE

oddly enough though..when i did that it still duplicated the opposite of what i wanted...i had to select the new part and move it to where i wanted it...

Ehm, if i've understood well, you need to have your new object attached to the old, right? You must move your original object on the grid plane, because when you duplicate with symmetry the distance from the two specular objects is the double of the distance from the first object to the grid. Ehm, i hope that my explanation is enough clear. If not, let me know:P -TOXE

id modelled 1/2 of a head..the left side..when i chose it and duped it with symmetry, instead of the 2 flat sides, where the nose would be, instead of it duplicating there..instead it duplicated to the outside of the head...i already moved it or id throw a pic up of it...lol..im used to it duplicating from, i guess, right to left..this time it did it right to right...i just thought it odd...i just got done modelling a leg and it did what i wanted it to ..lol..i just think its toying with me at this point..:)..thanks for your help..:)

Do as TOXE says to select the plane that you want to duplicate by [the 'mirror']. Then Ctrl + click on a vertex which lies exactly on where you want your seam (so, for example, the middle of the nose). This will send the Drawing Plane to that point. Select All and then Duplicate with Symmetry. Viola! (Before duplicating you can select the vertices that lie on your seam - using the marquee - and then choose Selection>Move to Drawing Plane if you need to make sure they are all lying 'flat'.) Choose View> Reset Working Box to continue working on your model.

Good morning TOXE! Yes, I'll have a cappucino. But let's sit outside so that I don't have to breath the smoke from your Gaulloises! ;-) Viol!

LOL! At the first glance it seems that your language was greek or something strange. You can easily duplicate with symmetry every thing that come in your road! Now we are again in the topic! Someone want to ask something else? -TOXE
