Subject: opinions on graphics tablets

Hey everyone, I have been considering buying a graphics tablet after seeing that so many of the people here, who paint their own hair and clothes, use them. I am looking for some input on which brands to stay away from and which ones are a good deal for the money. I have been told that WACOM is a great product but they are out of my price range unless I decide to sit and save up for awhile lol. I have seen the lowest prices on "Pablo" and "JAMSTUDIO". Has anyone tried these? Let me know what you think I appreciate any feedback I can get. Thanks. Mid

Get a Wacom Graphire for a start. The list price is under $100 and you should be able to find it on line for much less. They work great, even with their "small" size.

Yes definitely a Wacom Graphire, I use mine all the time and it works great. (Hint) if your using a USB hub be sure to get a Keyspan not a Belkin as it fried my 1st tablet up. Wacom advises using Keyspan, by the way they did replace the tablet no charge.

Schurby, the Belkin REALLY fried your Wacom? I had a USB Hub that was a Belkin for a year with my old PC and I never had a problem. Midnight, yes definitely get a Wacom. It's worth it. I have seen refurbished Graphire's on line as low as $50. I myself personally wouldnt buy a refurbished tablet simply because Im weary of stuff like that. But I hear they are just as good as new. Thank you for the opinions everyone :) I was hoping someone had used one of the others I had mentioned as you can find those ones on e-bay for $10-$20 lol Looks like the cheapest Wacom I can get is around $139 canadian with shipping and taxes etc sigh Time to start saving up I guess ;) Thanks again. You can try the other brands if you can get them that cheap. You should ask around other forums about them to try to find more information on them.

Well after doing a bunch of hunting on the web the cheaper brands seem to give a lot of people problems. Problems installing, problems getting it to work, problems getting support etc. I guess you get what you pay for and if you can't get the thing to work at all then it's not worth the money even if it's free lol

Stay away from Jamstudio. You would do better with an etch-a-sketch than their tablets. They are cheap for a good reason.
