No, it is not just about Renderosity, it is more of a general problem.I see a growing trend in the web business to milk the hobby consumer base. Heck, for a time I even supported this by buying from several Poser shops, but lately it is just to much. On one side we have to pay for former free services, on the other side everything becomes more regulated and less fun. Often this is disguised as a alleged necessity to cater to a more professional audience.
Well for me its is not about the money, but if the fun is gone, then everything else is pointless.
One thing is especially aggravating for me:
Sometimes the PTB of a website react to problems not at all, sometimes in such a heavy-handed way, that it just gets worse. There is no pattern, no possibility to predict the outcome.
That is not the way to run a professional website for a professional audience.
