Well I got a little further along in my efforts to create a view in TCad 4 and import to Carrara 2. Although I didn't note it in the last thread the "method" as I previously described imported only an outline of the section not a solid 2d plane - there were so to speak "holes" in my theory.

I was finally able to get C2 to accept a "solid" .ai in the spline modeler using "path hatching" using the following settings (set by right clicking the "path hatching" icon) which are likely only relevent to TCW40: 0:black:by layer:black color :0

once the path hatching tool is set up, edit:select all
and in format: create hatch.

When you import into Corel Draw you won't see any difference but when the resultant .ai is imported into
C2 the section is solid rather than just an outline.

Anyrate the "gear" was created in TCad converted to .ai in Corel Draw, imported into C2, modified slightly, saved as a wavefront obj and imported into Bryce where it took 57 seconds to render.

Again thanks to BrainMuffin for motivating me to look into this.

What success have you had with importing .eps files? I have only slighting been able to get them to work. Brian brian@vizualds.com http://www.vizualds.com

Brian, none. I haven't looked into eps at all but from what I understand eps files can contain bitmap (raster) data instead of vector data - that might be the problem. I was able to get Corel Draw 8(suite) back when I had the money to do so so, and so I'm fortunate that it supports adobe illustrator files as I didn't know what I was getting back then. - TJ
