Hello i'm making a face in the metaballs room, and i want to move a sphere back or forward, which is usually ( or i thought) achieved by moving the mouse back or forward, but i can't!!!! The thing shows an axis and i can only move the sphere on those axis WHY? I thought that on whatever view the user has, moving mouse forward would push the ball away. Now i try to move a sphere away from me, and it does something different, like move side to side or up and down.

Welcome to metaball madness. The metaball moves in the plane you have selected. So if you want to move it in the XY plane, go and select that plane in the little box on the side and that's the plane the ball will be moving in. The metaball modeler would be about four thousand times better if you could select a ball and type in the coordinates for the center of the ball and also the size of the ball (model details that are editable like you can in the other modelers!!!!!!). What I try to do is get one ball in the center (0,0,0). This usually takes me a minute or so. Once I have that reference established, I can actually make something. Metaballs are actually pretty powerful but they simply take practice and the modeler we have at the moment is really frustrating for me. I would do A LOT more with it if I could see details for a selected ball. The way it is now really limits it for me. -Kix

The metaball modeler would be about four thousand times better if .... You could change it to a 4 pane multiple window view like you can with every other modeler in Carrara. They really need to overhaul the metaballs.
