Fresh on the ol' webserver. I just finished this moments ago and thought that in addition to posting it on the carrara yahoo list I'd share it with y'all here. Hope you find it useful.TOXE posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 2:00 AM

Now this is just what us newbies need, intelligent, well written, informative tutorial's for this amazing programme. Hmm! Exactly what the manual isn't really. Can anyone tell me why the boolean operation's don't seem to be active in the vertex modeler in version 3? Also has anybody had the problem where you'll be working away happily in any of the modeler's and suddenly, for no reason the work area is replaced with a black screen that say's "could not complete render"? Or is it only me that has these problem's? Thank's Guy's!

I am not sure, but how much RAM do you have in your system? I never see this.

1.25 gb. Think I'll update the tut over the weekend.

Great tut, MrMongo! Hi butter, Sometimes changing the interactive renderer can help with 'rendering failed' messages. I had this a lot in the C3 beta. Using keyboard shortcuts can also sometimes trigger them when working with particular vertices. Reopen the file and use the menu instead for those vertices. It's also not a bad idea to save the file with a different name; that will often cure problems. Booleans work in C3 for me. Make sure you're selecting the whole of both objects together, then Ctrl+Alt+click one vertice (it will turn yellow) for intersection/subtraction. HTH Mark

I can't see anything wrong. It's possible that some of the cylinder has not been selected (such as the top face which isn't in view). Otherwise, I don't know. As for your zoom problem, I've no idea what's going wrong. Again, try a different interactive renderer (click the circled arrow on the right of the modelling room window). Otherwise, all I can suggest is you save your work often, using a new file name about every half hour so that if you get a currupted file you don't loose a lot of work. Mark
