Hi everybody, is there anyone who can teach me how to build a GOOD shader for brushed aluminium in Carrara? I mean the kind of texture you find in some hi-fi front panels, cameras, mobile phones etc. I would know how to create that in Photoshop (noise) but somehow the noise factory in Carrara didn't produce any satisfying result so far...

See attached link. I think you would do better with a Photoshop bump/reflectivity map that was done with short strokes in the x and y directions, rather than an ordinary noise map.Kixum posted Sun, 07 September 2003 at 12:25 PM
You can also take a look at the light saber tutorial in the back room where I used the squares plug-in. -Kix

There was a great brushed aluminum texture that came with RayDream and should port over just fine. If I can fire up the old machine that has RDS on it still, I'll try to post something up here for you.... Or maybe someone else can port it over before I have the chance....
