Subject: surreal landscapes

Well, playing around with the landscpae editor tonite, I discovered something interesting to say the least. Folks on the Bryce lists are always talking about fractal landscapes. This is not truly a fractal landscape, but definitely a surreal one. And the fun thing is that the texture map it was created with, if rotated correctly, will line up just right. Now maybe most of you knew this already or had already figured it out. But I thought it was kinda neat anyway. Don't know what the hell I will use a technique like this for, but I'll figure something out. This is just a quick render of a terrain created by a grayscale of a screen capture of Patchooly, a screen saver. Then I mapped the screen capture onto the terrain, and rotated the texture until it lined up with the terrain. I didn't save a copy of the screen capture, so I can't show you a before and after on this one. If interested, I could do another one and upload a before and after image. HG...
