I've run across a consistent problem with Carrara 2 and I was
wondering if anyone knew of a workaround or fix. My problem is that when I pull in an OBJ to tweak it that when I export it Carrara will reverse the facets in some areas of the OBJ. Luckily the OBJs I pull in are grouped meshes so it only happens one part of the OBJ and can be fixed using Compose. But it is beginning to be a pain to do it everytime. Also is there anyway to get more precision when trying to position and OBJ? I've worked with OBJs before that have symmetry. Most cases I will work one side and then duplicate with symmetry to keep from having to all the work again. Problem is the duplicate symmetry doesnt always place the new mesh in the exact same coordinates on the other side of the axis. This proposes a problem because the duplicated mesh has other meshes that are expecting it to do just that. So when I export and then use it in Poser you can see the gap between the two meshes. It's really aggravating! Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
David H

I suggest the cheap purchase of Gemini from Eric at DCG. http://www.digitalcarversguild.com For modeling its heaven. As to your other problems, can you show us some screenshots, and tell us your settings for importing, and what program are you exporting the objects from? Brian

One point on the duplicate with symmetry - check the manual. I don't mean to sound glib, but there is a specific means by which you can get accurate Dupe W/Symmetry, but it'll be easier for you to read than for someone to retype. :)

Sorry guess I should have checked the manual first (now where did that thing get off too). As to the other problem I'll have to see if I cant duplicate what it did and post the images here. Dave
