I have been building and exporting Carrara models to Vue d'Esprit. The preferred file format there is .3ds or .obj. Lately, when exporting as .3ds [with the 'Convert Procedurals To Shaders' box checked] the thermometer bar at the top of the screen converts the shader over and over and over. You can't stop it. It takes over the program. Only once [this evening] did CTRL_ALT_DELETE [after pounding on it repeatedly] stop Carrara once it started its run-away. The only way to stop this is to turn off the power at the switch on the floor. Later, when I check the model's texture folder, there will be as many as 70 shaders. Some named Default 1, Default 2, etc., then it will stop that name and switch over to Shader 34, Shader 35, etc. This problem used to be confined to exporting as .3ds, but tonight it started doing it when I wanted to export as an .obj. Has this happened to anyone else?

How many objects are in the scene you're exporting? I think it will create a separate texture for every single separate object in the scene and that's why it's grinding so hard. It might also be trying to generate a shader for each polygon. I don't have that much experience with it. Others? -Kix

Ive had that problem only once...I usually texture everything outside of Carrara in Body Paint...and that problem happened exporting a 3ds file....it wanted to texture each object...took like 45 minutes to export...lol
