Attached Link: Tutorial for Method #3
1. Get the large preview image in the DTE and do a screen capture. 2. Apply the texture to a box, turn off the atmosphere, add some lights and render from top. 3. Apply the texture to a flat terrain and export the obj, getting a texture map and bump map. #1 and #2 are easy, so is #3, but see tutorial link if you wish to see how I did it. Anyone have any other ways of doing this?Erlik posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 11:47 AM
I'm not at my computer right now and cannot check*, but how about texturing imported models and re-exporting them? Of course, it would work only with bitmap textures, not with Bryce procedurals. Nevertheless, how does it work? * Not that I could check, since I use Bryce as the final renderer. :-)

I just tried exporting an imported obj with both a procedural texture and an applied bitmap texture. Neither texture was exported with the obj. You can change the basic color of the object and get that color when you reimport it, but not procedural or bitmaps.

Very nice. My method can be found at the link above.EricofSD posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 10:27 PM
I was going to write a tut on all the different check boxes and effects you get when exporting a terrain with materials. Its on my list somewhere. Kinda makes me wonder if you can separate out the mtl file and use it for other things.

Aye, some programs will prompt you on the export (for .obj) if you want to export the textures. Ray Dream Studio 5 does this, and Amorphium as well! RDS actually even asks what size (256, 512, 1024, blah), and it actually renders each active material and saves it off, similar to exporting terrains in Bryce! But I don't think Bryce will do it otherwise...
