Have any probs getting the Real Eyes in her??? Emily
darhorn posted Sat, 28 December 2002 at 6:33 PM
Emily, Not at all really... though it needed a slight translation... I loaded the eyes for V2, and had to adjust the z trans a touch and the x trans a little... I think z was set at +.001 and I moved it to 0 and moved it .001 on the x axis... one of these days I will get it set and save the eyes as V3 eyes :) D

can i ask how you got a V2 texture on V3? or is that the v3/v2 model... sorry if thats a dumb question.. I really hope there will be a way to translate the v2 textures as i have soooooo many textures that i love, but i really prefer V3 -=SimderZ=-

that one was easy actually :) download the uvs file from the V3 page, and use UVmapper (might still be in freestuff) and apply the uvs files to the original V3 obj file,, this will change the UV coordinates so you can use the V2 textures. save the resulting obj file to a new name... then open up the V3 cr2 and change the obj references (there are 2) to the new obj and save under a new name... These instructions are in the file from Daz too I think I didnt want to give up all my great testures either! D

Excellent image, looks great! I wish I could make the remap thing work for me ... followed the instructions to the letter, but Poser says it can't open the obj file when I try to open the new character. Rhi

Grear images Darhorn! I've done the remapping for using V2 textures on V3- (Mac) definetly worth the effort! Used Martin C's UVSdecoder only problem was using Word to edit the Cr2-it changed the filetype arrrrgh! Got around that with a text editor-and saved as "simpletext" and the results are delightful! Rhiannon: I had the same problem- MarianneR reminded me to check the obj spelling-then I realized I had substitued a dash for an underscore in the object name- make sure it is spelled the same as the name in the edited Cr2 file-and the case is the same. Good luck! Eric

Good gosh, this is scary Eric ... I just this very moment, right before I received notice of this message, went and checked my spelling as well ... and I had done the very same thing you did!! Synchronicity ... works beautifully!!! Thanks for your help anyway, I really appreciate it!

Rhiannon, Great minds think alike! :-) Eric

Glad it all worked good :) this was one of the first things I did as after getting v3 and all the morphs, I couldnt justify buying the textures too... and I have so many v2 textures that I love! D

"and apply the uvs files to the original V3 obj file" Can you explain specifically how to do this.. first open the original v3 obj file, then how do you apply the uvs files? Tia
Rhiannon posted Sun, 29 December 2002 at 1:11 AM
Alright ... remapping worked just fine for me ... but now, none of the morphs will work for me ... is this to be expected? Will the remapped character not take V3 morphs?
Eric Walters posted Sun, 29 December 2002 at 3:17 AM
Hi Rhiannon I dont know- I will have to give that a try! Don't know why that would be the case.... I will get back to you. Eric

Beautiful work. Where can I get Reika Hair? I saerch the marketplace, and freebies.
darhorn posted Sun, 29 December 2002 at 8:40 AM
Tia, Using UVmanager, you open the V3 obj file, anf then in the file menu, you have the option to import uvs... just click that and browse to where daz installed the uvs files... hope this helps D

Wow, this is a really awesome image. Well done.

I don't understand why you would want to replace the eyes. You do realize that V3 has new eye geometry that has all of the features that Real eyes or Awful eyes used to provide. They are pretty much obsolete for V3.

We might want to use Real Eyes cause we have a ton of textures for them that we like a lot too. Personally, I hope Rdna comes out with a Vicki fit for it's Eyez because I love them. Rhiannon, the morphs have to be reinjected in this new cr2. I did that and resaved it as V3_V2Map_loaded.cr2 Longest name on the list. :))) Emily
