The real version of Carrara supports video files as textures, you can apply video just like a texture...
Thread: Modeling in Carrara. | Forum: Carrara
I use Rhino for 99.9% of my modeling.. I got it 3 years ago and have never looked back.. I wouldn't want to use anything else.. For me Carrara's modeling is weak..But that's because I'm used to CAD like precison and accuracy.. It depends on what you want to get out of it.. For some things Carraras modeling tools are fine, and then for others, Carrara can't even begin.. Amapi 5 is worth learning, hell it's free with Carrara, .. I think they give it with Carrara because they know that most people are going to want to model with better tools... Nurbs cannot be compared to what is offered in Carrara.. They are vastly superior.. It's like comparing bitmaps to vectors.. 2 different universes...But I do love Carrara for it's Scene/Texturing/Animation/Export/rendering features... I wonder if Eovia is looking into adding Nurbs modeling to Carrara in the future? It would make it a much more powerful program.. kaom

Another program worth learning is Rhinoceros. The demo, is the full product, the limitaiton is only 25 saves or exports, but it works forever, so you can keep learning it.. Learn all the siftware you can, if you want a job, having many skills in your toolbox is an asset.. Definately learn Maya if you want to go down the paths that use Maya porfessionally.. kaom
Thread: Faked HDRI is a stretch at best? | Forum: Bryce
I like using the sun and a pure white ambient sphere around the scene with no lights, maybe one omni set to about 2 or 3 for shadows.. The light domes are cool, but I like "luminescence mapping"/(fake hdri)...

Thread: Need some help,Radiosity/true ambience/Hdri or what? | Forum: Bryce
It could be just me, but to the light domes don't look as good as using an ambient/GI sphere for the lighting...To me it looks more realistic, like real world lighting.. Theh light domes look beautiful and are amazing renders, but they don't look natural, the lighting is too perfect. The stuff I've seen of AS' using ambient spheres looks incredible, it's what made me look into it, and now I'm a believer....

I'd love to see your tut, there's so much to learn about this stuff. I'm in the process of trying to master shooting photographs of a gazing ball and creating LAT/LONG HDRI Images in HDRShop.. I've experimented with a few techniques in Bryce, the Ambient white sphere/Global Illumination, and the same thing with a converted HDRI map on it.. Both ened up looking pretty cool. I'm really digging the environment mapping end of it, and want to shoot a bunch of different environments to render in.. Here are some images I've done using these techiques, thet are in my gallery if anyone want to check them out. I'm waiting for Carrara 3 to arrive, it supports .HDR images, and I can't wait to do some HDRI in there. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=673488&Start=1&Artist=kaom&ByArtist=Yes http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=664976&Start=1&Artist=kaom&ByArtist=Yes http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=668977&Start=1&Artist=kaom&ByArtist=Yes http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=665619&Start=1&Artist=kaom&ByArtist=Yes http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=667227&Start=1&Artist=kaom&ByArtist=YesThread: SDK Users Group | Forum: Carrara
