Thread: Help - want CARRARA (or do I)? | Forum: Carrara
JimGale, If you can afford it, buy 3D Studio Max. It's not as difficult as lightwave, but it's not exactly cheap either. It all depends on what you can afford for what you want to do with it.As far as Bryce & Poser go, they are both great programs for what they are. I still love Bryce for doing landscapes & such, it's incredibly amazing for a $200 piece of software. But it's not a modeler per se, but you can do some very cool things with it. Poser is great for people and animals, but not for rendering, it's just a tool to use for specific tasks.Yes Bryce is in a different league than Poser for texturing and rendering. I would recommend waiting, and keep using Bryce & Poser and learn new techniques & tricks in them & just enjoy them for what they are for now. Animation Master Is tough but worth the effort, just keep at it, you'll learn the intricacies in the end. Good Luck.

You'd be a fool to buy Carrara right now, unless you can find it for under $10.00. You wouldn't hit yourself in the head with a hammer would you? Then why would you want to start living a real life nightmare? Wait and see if Eovia actually releases Carrara 2.0 without 5,000,000,000,000,000 bugs in it. I hate to be brutally honest, but don't buy it unless you can find it for really, really cheap.
Thread: Boolean with primatives..? | Forum: Carrara
Ah yes, another reason why we need a patch to help fix this mentally disabled program call Carrara! Let's start seriously annoying the crap out of Eovia for it. Otherwise we will never see a new patch, and it's more than needed.
Thread: I thought I might just bring up the PATCH issue again | Forum: Carrara
By the time the patch is released, we'll all have moved on to other software. How much more bitching can we do? Not enough. I will forever have hatred for the F%#KS at Metacrapations, they took our money under false claims and then pissed on all of us. I don't blame it all on Eovia, but they havn't done anything to fix this nightmare yet. It's truly an unfortunate situation, and there is nothing left to say, except OH WELL!!!!!
Thread: Is the patch coming???? | Forum: Carrara
Yeah, I think they're using the mayan calender, you know 13- 28 day months. They also probobly have stone pillars to judge the movement of the sun across the sky, and are waiting for the summer equinox or something like that. But you could be right, metric time is probobly the system they are using. As far as the word patch goes, I think it needs more than a simple patch; more like a miracle.
Thread: Other modeler question.. | Forum: Carrara
The reason I want Lightwave is simple. It's used in more movies and T.V. than I can name off hand. I had two teachers in school who used it professionally, they worked several movies with Lightwave. i've seen what it's capable of, period. Sure it's a very difficult program to use, but when mastered, it's beyond amazing. If you know Lightwave well, you have a better shot at getting a real 3D gig. Plain and simple, there is no other 3D app on the market that's capable of what it's capable of for the money. Hash Animation Master is very cool, I've used it, and I wouldn't mind getting it. But it's not in the same league as Lightwave or 3D studio Max(which I would get too, if I had $3,400 to spare. Lightwave is only around $2,000, for the difference I could buy another computer instead.
Thread: My first Carrara Spline model (Need Help) | Forum: Carrara
Looks pretty cool, I cant really see the lines on it though. Just keep at it , it's really pretty easy once you get the feel for it.Keep on rendering! I'm still fighting with the vertex room, so for now I'm making vertex objects in Ray Dream and importing them into Carrara. Will a patch to end the frustration ever happen, let's hope for the best and keep on crafting our art. Ya know Ray Dream ain't so bad after all, at least it's fairly stable, tools, tools, tools. Over and out.....Kaom
Thread: Same dog different view | Forum: Carrara
It's lookin sweet. I don't know what's up in the vertex room, it might just be me, who knows? When I have the time, I'll get into it and see if it's me or my computer. I can't wait to see the dogs with texture. Kaom.....
Thread: Bink and Smacker | Forum: Carrara
Well I took your advice and got Bink and Smacker. You didn't lie. Right off the bat I compressed a 39MB AVI file down to 1.25MB without even adjusting any of the settings. Wow , the quality was amazing, some of the best compression I've ever seen, the only thing that bothers me is the fact that you end up with a mutant file. But for your own movies to give to your friends it's a great thing. Mabye later it will be AVI compatible with a standard media player.
Thread: island pic ... suggestions needed | Forum: Carrara
Smooth out any of the pointy things on the island,it will look more natural, nice work though, keep working on it.I like the water, it looks very real. Kaom
Thread: Urika!!! (Zeux is about complete) | Forum: Carrara
It's looking great!I like it, you're doing more with the vertex's than any one I've seen, I'd really like to see how they modelled that gargoyle on the front of the Carrara box. My computer is a 600mhz athlon/448MB of ram and I get wierd error messages in the vertex room when trying to manipulate a sphere with 40 polygons, then my screen goes gray and it says rendering failed, did you ever have these problems? Nice work man.......
Thread: He's mutating just fine | Forum: Carrara
dude you need to give us all a Vertex tutorial. I played with the vertex modeler today and got extremely frustrated. Seriously, what's the secret, My system choked in the vertex room when I subdivided and manipulated with the sphere of attraction. Do tell......Your Devil Dog rocks......
Thread: Someone Please help!! | Forum: Carrara
Wow, you've got Vertex thing down, I wish I could model in it like that. I don't think there is an easier way but doing it tooth by tooth, a drawback but worth it inthe end. Very nice work, damn!
Thread: W.I.P. Bender bot | Forum: Carrara
Yes I did it all in our favorite little ware Carrara, I even had a successful boolean subtraction, when making his mouth. I love Carrara despite all the problems, what it does, it does wonderfully.
