Thread: Does anyone recognize this person? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
sorry, not seeing it.
Maybe a little more context, other than "celebrity"? Not sure if I'd even know who it was.

Poserworld.
Best bang for your buck anywhere, and Steve makes NORMAL, everyday clothes for all the guys (well, no genesis or M5).

Quote - ... it's that speculars should be WHITE.
Editing 500 purchased shaders that only work with the light sets they were sold.... Linear workflow is about predictable results, in a wide variety of circumstances.
Traditional non-linear hackery is about predictable results USING ONLY WHAT YOU BOUGHT, usually TOGETHER.
The idea that lights are sold with a character is absurd - if you see such a thing, you're into lala land and will not find that set useful...
One word: Bravo!
snips for added emphasis
Thread: Halloween contest includes Writing category! | Forum: Writers
Does anyone else feel that the writing prizes are, um, weak?
Look at the 3D category. Then look at writing.
How many people who enter the writing contest would also be interested in some of the nifty stuff on display for the 3D category? I know I would. I also know I have a better chance winning in the writing category than I do the 3D category. But I'd still like some of the prizes to boost my 3D and maybe give me more confidence and skill for the future.
I just think a little more parity would be nice. Even is the writing category is undersubscribed.
Thread: Cloth room: what makes a sim slower than others? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - You're not new to this, so I'm assuming you've already unticked Luke's hair (which for some reason ticks itself) as a collision object, as well as head and hands and feet. And you've checked to make sure no part of the cloth intersects with the target figure (even 'round the back). The other thing I tend to do is load textures - especially hi-res ones - after the sim to conserve on RAM.
I did indeed check the collision items. I do not, however, concern myself especially with the clothing item intersecting with the figure. Doesn't seem to be a problem for me these days. But thanks for the suggestions

Quote - you may find doing an initial drape then exporting to obj then re-importing with weld vertices to be beneficial...
:O)
Perhaps, as a last resort. But I think, after further investigation, that the object is much higher poly than I thought. I believe that is the cause.
Thread: What is missing from male figures and content? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Hi to be honest there is no longer major void to be filled in the area a poser/DAz males with the possible exception of a weight mapped male figure
and apparently one is in the works for poser pro 2012DAZ M4 has enough versatility and content support for most peoples needs and of course on the DS only side genesis covers everything else.
Cheers
Voicing my disagreement. David was the last decent male model to come out from DAZ and he is and has been undersupported.
M4 is fine, but in order to make him versatile requies a serious expenditure. And even then, meh.
Versatility is key, I think. Apollo aimed at versatility, overdid it and didn't quite make it at the same time.
I use almost exclusively male figures. I use David more than anyone else, and a close second would have to be Seth (anyone remember him?). The Aeon figures, for me, had a great start but never gathered any steam or support. Genesis makes me think of Aeon, but I don't care for Genesis.
Thread: Poser 8 Light Attenuation | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
value displayed/shown in the attenuation control GUi element doesn't change.
I believe that the light does respond... purely based on how SemiDieu's light guide functions. I have not tested enough to see if that light is actually changing.
It threw me when the GUI element remained "Constant", no matter what I did.
Thread: Poser 8 Light Attenuation | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have tripled check the light type, even switched it around.
Pretty sure I am on SR3, but since the Help> About display does not SAY SR3, and I just reinstalled everything I am not 100% sure. version displays as 8.03xxxx. I THINK that means SR3.
Thread: Dynamic cloth - the cloth room For Compleat Dummies | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Synchronicity. I just resumed work on an image I have been troubling with for 3 years...because I want dynamic robes flowing like water. And here is this thread, with all of you wonderful people (including Mr Wizard himself: BB, and one of my newest heroes aRtBee; the two of you make my jaw drop in wonder) working the same thing. Wow. Thanks.
This is awesome and I am hoping for more. If I can contribute I certainly will.
I've been over that SM tutorial on the Cloth Room and its effects several times, and have used those settings as a jumping off point to get some good effects. But this crystal ridge, and the cloth self collisions... FRUSTRATING! Doesn't help that I am using conforming clothes that I have just pulled in the OBJ to make dynamic... but still.
Thread: What would be the best model / morph for Male teenager | Forum: DAZ|Studio
David from Daz is probably your best bet. RenaPD's High School Years here has some good textures and the head morphs aren't bad either.
Thread: CR Pro is dead, What now? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, as a user of both... here's my feelings:
CR Pro made me feel more comfortable, I don't know why... but it was slow and creaky, and sometimes seemed to "correct" the same problems over and over again.
Poser Organizer does a lot of different things, and I have used it to "organize" my runtimes quite a few times since purchasing it.
I believe POrg does at least as good of a job as CR Pro at fixing references (I find myself trying to remember if it can handle obj files in the library folder -- who's stupid idea was that, anyway? -- and I can't remember if it does), and its a lot faster. Doesn't have the db overhead that CR Pro has, but also doesn't have some of the tools that require that (unreferenced files tool).
D3D makes great tools.
Thread: CR Pro is dead, What now? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm pretty sure Poser Organizer will do what CR Pro did, and more. And it is currently supported.
I do miss my hogsoft, though.

Ah grow up!
How's that for heavy handed? Privacy is an illusion, and frankly all these laws and jibber jabber just add fuel to the fire.
If someone wants your personal information bad enough, they ARE going to get it. And if you think they don't already have it, somewhere, on some site, then you are just fooling yourself.
There are better ways of protecting yourself than hammering on good-intentioned people, who DO have excellent reputations.
I work in IT, at a financial institution. I have experienced identity theft at every level. Its a scary old world... but you people take the cake.
