animated textures are useful. For example, with water you may just want to animate ripples rather than animating an actual "wavy watery mesh" which would be disgustingly huge. Or a tv screen. Or an animation of a guy turning into metal like in the matrix. Or someone turning red from embarrasment (sp?) heh, hi people. I know I haven't posted here in years. I wonder if anyone even remembers who I am grin SewerRat

she tried to put in a link to her e-mail which is: lanoss@myiafrica.com (assuming I'm not mistaken) Tony
Thread: Poser modelling | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
you would need to model the clothing in something else pretty much any 3D modelling program that would let you make them will work (ok, I know that is a really bad explanation just to say - whatever works) things like maya, lightwave, 3D Studio Max... depending what you use you would model them differently, if you wanted a hat you could probably just create it from a box, and keep adding more detail for something more "flowing" like a dress, what I use is "Stitch" which is a plugin for 3D Studio Max, it allows you to draw the "dress patterns" like you were making a real dress, then position these on the figure, and it pulls the seams that you tell it should be sewed together towards each other until it is fitting on the figure. You can then add gravity, and the dress will hang off her. Of course this can also be used for shirts, pants etc. but not for things like shoes hope that was some help I'm sure others will have better suggestions =) Tony

I don't really have any one picture in mind just a nice looking face (like nene has) I think I'll fiddle around and attach nene's head to the p4 fem, that should work out fine =) (assuming I can get it to work)
Thread: exporting poser animations to 3d max? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
character studio is a lot of work the first few times now I can get a figure working in less than half an hour (without any morph targets) so yeah, it's still a fair bit of work to get it converted so you can start playing with max. In my opinion it's worth it (but I only tend to use one or two characters) I haven't used the full version of maximum pose, but if that's what you need, I'd go for it, saves a lot of work =) aren't we lucky to have people like poser putting out the software that we need =) now I've just gotta convince him to give me a free version grin (well, I can wish) SewerRat

Thread: more clothing anyone? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
great =) I could theoretically conform the clothes myself, but I'm lazy and don't want to grin so if you can do this stuff that'd be great. If you want to e-mail me that'd be great, use sprout@apocx.hypermart.net and anyone else willing to do conforming is also welcome of course =) oh, and UV Mapping. And textures would be nice too grin getting greedy now aren't I? Easy to get greedy when it's not you putting in the work =) I'll try to see what I can make from that site, the problem is the way I'm doing this I'm making clothing from patterns, then making that fit onto the figure, rather than modelling the object itself, so I can't use this method to make things like jackets SewerRat

I'm willing to make a few free dress meshes as long as someone will make them conforming and posable see my thread higher up in the list http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=198860 SewerRat

heh, I'm not a big fan of butterflies, but this is one very cool picture =) if you're exporting from poser to bryce you should maybe see about trying max instead? it can do some very cool lighting SewerRat
Thread: exporting poser animations to 3d max? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
there are some really clumsy ways the main problem, if you want to export from poser then each frame will be a seperate model and 3dsmax doesn't know how to apply poser-format morphs etc. to a figure you can export from poser, import from max, and make a morph for every frame of your animation (which you probably won't want to) or you can use the program Maximum Pose (by konan) which will do this for you. There is a free demo version around I believe, but that won't let you use textures unless you get the full version (correct me if I'm wrong. been out of here for quite a while now) the third option is, if you have character studio, learn to use the biped. You can match it to the poser figure, and then just make the animation in max. It gives you much more advanced animation controls, but takes a bit of learning to use, and you will also need to create all the face morphs so you can do expressions. as for rendering quality, for max you can get plugin renderers if the max renderer isn't good enough hope that helped =) SewerRat

maybe we need to have a place where you can put your name down for a challenge, and then people can pick your name and give you challenges? that way the people that want to be challenged are readily available? SewerRat
