Generally the older versions will still load the file but a rather annoying error message will popup telling you that Poser doesn't recognize the version number but will attempt to load the file anyway.Â
As I said, generally it will load, but if you're going to offer the file to others it's a bit more considerate to change the version number just to spare potential users the annoyance of an error message. And possibly spare yourself an onslought of irrate e-mails from annoyed customers complaining about it..

Thread: Site mail has a new feature | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote -   Personally I think the default should be "on" because there are some who don't come here very often and won't know to turn on their ebot. Â
Unfortunately, It seems there are some people out there who consider newsletters, e-mail notifications etc. as "spam" - This tends to be the culprit behind the going trend these days in online communities to require members to activate or "turn on" such options.Â
if the default option is "off" and they turn it on. Then they can't accuse the site of sending them unsolicited e-mails because they, themselves authorized it by turning the option "on".
Personally, I need all the reminders I can get. If it doesn't smack me square in the face IÂ generally won't even know it's there - LOL

Thread: Dynamic cloth: frame 1 must be in zero position? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Â
It is Not a must to do this. You can use the "Start drape from zero pose" option with or without IK turned on. And Pose your figure as you want it directly in frame 1. As long as the cloth item was originally designed to fit that particular character, (If you use this option) it doesn't matter if there are "poke thru's" or not in the Posed position. In fact they should be expected since the dynamic clothing won't take the shape of the pose(s) until the simulation is calculated.

Quote - the start draping from zero pose can become an issue (as I found) if your characters Hip or Body are rotated around say the y axis, the zero pose will reset this, then, when the draping is calculated the character will rotate causing the cloth to "spin" around the character.
Â
Yes, this is true. There are of course, situations where you don't actually want to use this method, (which is the underlying reason why it is an "option")

Thread: locking lights? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes you can parent the lights to a camera and they will keep their positions relative to that camera as the camera position is changed.

I think Sam has the right idea. Make a test image based on the lash template. Make each of the 8 sections you mentioned a different color. Then apply this map to the diffuse channel of the lashes material and see where each color turns up on the model.

For just one or two parts individually, they can be done in the Pose Room selecting each body part, and in the Group Editor choose "Create Prop"

Thread: What is the difference between "Change Parent" and "Conform to"? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yep, what Acadia said.
To elaborate a bit. Conform relies on bone structure. It can only be used with posable (rigged) figures. The bones in the conforming figure need to match up with the bones in the figure it is to conform to.Â
The length and rotation angle of each respective bone determined by the center and endpoints, i.e. distance from the shoulder to the elbow, elbow to wrist, etc. and the direction in which each bone is pointing at its default rotation.
In order for one figure to conform to another, the center and endpoints of the bones for both figures need to correlate or they just won't line up.
Parenting simply attaches one object to another, so that when the parent moves, the child will move with it. So changing parent (in the case of a smart prop for example) will allow you to attach an object to something other than what it may have been originally attached to.

That is interesting. Not really familiar with those figures mentioned, but Yes Poser does do some unexpected things on occasion that I have yet to figure out for sure.

I have also noticed this. And it can be confusing. Poser 7 has all of the P4 conforming clothing in the "Props" library even thought hey are actually conforming figures.
