Hi ima70,
Never too late - thanks for taking the time, and thanks for illustrating to me that one can actually see one item in wireframe and the other in solid mode... think I've got that bit figured out, now. Gonna be so much easier to group polygons, now... thanks again!
Cheers, Robyn

Thanks, haloedrain and oldskoolPunk - I was wondering why my attempts at deforming seemed so difficult using a lattice. Thinking Subsurf is probably the way to go....
I'm 'exploring' modeling in Blender on a coupla pages or so:

...might post all my foibles there first before taking up Renderosity bandwidth... hoping that's not against Renderosity policy...
Cheers,

Hi fls13,
Although the trend seems to be dynamic clothing (which has a bit of a steep learning curve itself) I don't think the last word has been said about conforming clothing. There are a few fashion-conscious designers in our 3D world --t I would like to become one of the top designers here, initially emulating current styles in the real world and finally coming up with some of my own, more daring attire. If you consider the range of women's wear that exists in even just the Western world, what we see represented in Poser fashions is but the smallest sampling. I see a largely untapped market here.
My objective is to learn all I can about creating fashion for the main Daz and Poser people, from generating the object file, to grouping and boning and texturing and finally giving easy-to-use morph targets to these fashions. So, I like the idea of conforming clothing. I just don't think the development has gone far enough.
Cheers,
Robyn

Hi Fred,
I haven't really looked at lattice at all - not sure I understand the concept. This I will look into and get back to you. Thanks for your input, too...
Cheers,
Robyn

You well deserve that halo, Haloe, and wings to go with it - you're an angel! Thanks ever so for that! I'll have a go but it looks like that should work.
Cheers,
Robyn

Hi Acadia,
I also have Wardrobe Wizard - never been very impressed with how the clothing turns out. Maybe it's something I'm doing wrong there as well. I use it all the time for the other included tools like turning IK off and zeroing my figures, so it was worth the price to me..
QuickConform was developed by Markdc - he also wrote some tutorials and stuff.

Thread: Newbie: Parameter dials *stop* working: Why?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi orodreth,
Seems the secret is frequent saves. I've been puzzled by this behaviour - I just finish saving a file, and when I close Poser 6 it prompts me to save the file I had just saved (hadn't made any changes to it at all). It must be resetting all my parameters to zero and locking them. I'll tick 'Don't Save' the next time that happens and see if this cuts down on the number of occurences of this problem.
Cheers,
Robyn

Thank you pakled, pjz99 and androge...
...pakled, it makes no difference whether I enter numbers with the keyboard or twiddle the dial. Nothing moves.
You are absolutely correct, pjz99 - I should have clarified version. I'm using Poser 6 with SR2. Based on what I've read here on this forum, I'm not eager to move to the next version yet.
...and androge: where the problem seems to occur is on characters that are based on a modified V3 SAE - ie, a lot of morphs have been done and even a Face_off, Morris HyperReal run against the character. Hmmm, not sure if that's clear. Let me explain. I've developed certain characters (based on V3 SAE) with eyes from one package (Mandy Celebrity) and skin textures by Face_off/Morris (HyperReal) and so forth. Don't think that's too unusual. All the morphs I need are included in the character as well, which is saved both as a .cr2 and a .pz3/.pmd files combo. I've had a chance to look at .pz3 files but can't seen to figure out which channels are active and usable (will manipulate) and which won't, and what the flag is that decides that - I know the hidden flag needs to be set to 0 in order to see the parameter dial, but I don't think that this affects what can be changed and what can't.
I'll have another look to see if there are any relative references to Scripts (which I'm going to assume HyperReal is) and change the path to absolute and see if that fixes it.
BTW, is there a FAQ that discusses corrupted .pz3 files and what can be done to resurrect them?
Cheers,
Robyn

Amarcord,
Well done - that was what I needed. I'd be curious to know how they arrived at those figures for the joints - trial and error?
Thanks again for pointing out that page...
