There's an icon on material files to indicate they're material files - which is helpful when you do a search so you know what's a prop and what's a material file (except for the content where people put the materials in the Pose folder so it would work in Daz...)
They changed the search feature to apparently be narrower - or so they say. I'm not sure there's really an improvement there - it still needs work. I'm still being frustrated by the auto-complete, completing it to a product I didn't want. They seem to have left more things in folders instead of opening the folders.
I've had more interface issues than before - odd things popping up - like opening Poser and there's a morph window - or working in it and my display switches to something funny.
They put L'Homme in - he has no clothes and no hair ...
I have not used / noticed any other features - well the problem is, I notice things when I need them and then I don't know if they've always been there or it's something new, because until I need them, they're invisible to me anyway.

Thread: Why do Normals go Wrong when Blender->Poser? | Forum: Blender
When you import the prop into Poser - play around with the settings.
The setting: Make Polygon normals consistent can mess up your normals or can sort them out.
The setting: Weld identical vertices can in some cases mess up your model.
If the crease factor / smoothing is set in Poser (under the prop's properties) - this can either help you to make the model look nicer - or harm you by distorting it - it depends on how it was modelled - it will distort the uv mapping as well.
Another option is to import the models in parts into Poser - for example if your platform isn't perfectly flat on the floor, it could be distorted when brought into Poser - and bringing it into Poser in parts will solve that.

Thread: Adding a cycles Superfly reflection | Forum: Poser 11
With textures like the chair, curtain, floor, carpet - you could as easily use the Poser Surface and just tick the Firefly & Superfly buttons - Superfly picks up more detail in the textures automatically.
Another option is to use the Poser Surface - tick only Superfly - and then add the Glass BSDF from Cycles into the reflection color. From there you can set the reflection strength as you like it. It will give you a glass look - for the wine glasses. It will give you a reflection for the floor (add in the texture as you normally would - just add the Cycles as the reflection color).
Your render settings in Superfly - as long as it's not grainy, you're good - I only use the presets. There's nothing special you have to change.
The black on the glass is a Superfly feature - it's not a setting. It does render glass very black. Ditto metal - the more metallic you go the darker it gets.

Thread: New Feature Requests? | Forum: Poser 11
Yes - I remembered seeing it and was looking for it but couldn't find it - you do realise once you sticky a post it instantly makes it invisible?
And it's 18 pages long... nobody is going to read through a long thread like that to discover if their suggestion is already made. Uh - that's nobody who isn't paid to do that :-)
Thanks.

Thread: what causes this? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It looks like your image is being tiled - you can try to change the settings to alpha or clamped or None (where you plug in the texture - under image mapped.)
But a way to mask it is to make the background of your texture the same wood colour - so it picks up wood colour and not white.

Thread: A suggestion to the vendors | Forum: Community Center
I would not be able to talk myself into knowingly releasing 1 product that is inferior to another. I would fiddle with it until I felt they were both of the same quality...
There's more than texturing - the objects I make often work in Poser but distort in Daz Studio. In order to support Daz Studio I have to remove features from the products or put them together like a puzzle instead of doing a boolean operation - which will take 10x longer. (When you push one object into another and tell the software to subtract the one object and leave a hole - that sequence in the software I use doesn't play nicely with Daz Studio.)
It's learning all of how Superfly materials work and then having to learn how all of Iray materials work.
It's learning all the new features of Daz Studio as well as Poser, instead of just one.
It's setting up every scene twice - because Poser / Daz can't read each other's scenes - that's not a few minutes export time - that's hours / days of work.
It's rendering 6 - 10 images in Superfly and then having to render 6 - 10 images in Iray as well (Iray on my machine takes 3 - 5 hours per render because what I make has a lot of glass / reflections / metal in it - that's an extra week just to make the store listing).
And then selling 3 props more...

Thread: I encountered some strangeness when downloading new files | Forum: Poser 11
Firefox did that to me too - All you have to do is click on OPEN - and it then renames the file correctly and then runs it. It seems to be a new Firefox feature - this is the first time I've seen that.
By the way - Norton - told me the files were safe - because it checked them as well before they're allowed to run.

Thread: Poser 11.2 - Upgrade or not? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Backups and Updates
Will these downloads be there forever - i.e. if I need to install Poser on a new PC or hard drive, would I be able to download them again or do I need to keep my own backups?
I downloaded this on the 25th and today it's telling me there's an update available. Do I need to re-download the entire 1.2GB file and the Poser support.exe file again to apply the update?

Thread: Where to post technical issues with website? | Forum: Community Center
This error persists.
If the only method of communicating technical errors is the green Feedback button then how does one know:
(Helpdesk software ... a tracking system ... other companies have it ... it's so nice ... you know things are received ... you know they're attending to it ... it's very helpful ... even a dedicated forum ... there used to be a thread - most of it was ignored much like the green feedback button but then at least you knew you were heard - and being ignored.)

Caucasus is a mountain range and region in Russia. The first person to classify people used the people from that area as a model - Caucasian had "sharp" noses and a light skin then Mongolian had more flat noses... The actual classification stems from those times - you could probably find the history somewhere, I read it when I was editing a documentary some time ago.
In Africa, referring to Africa as a race is insulting. We're a mixture of very different people who live on this continent and not all are black. Consider that Egypt is in Africa and Egyptians are also Africans. The American habit of referring to themselves as African-American doesn't go over very well in my country - with anyone. I am African, nobody in my country would dispute that. I don't have dark skin.
In South Africa where we openly recognise and talk about race as our history made it a big issue which we're still struggling to solve - we openly and without prejudice refer to people as Black, White, Asian, Indian, Coloured. Asian would be people that come from China, Japan etc. Indian would be people who come from India, Pakistan, Syria Arabian countries. White would be ex-Europeans, black would be Africans and coloured is mixed race and Cape Malay. A South African would be able to tell the difference and we have a hard time explaining the concept of "coloured" to other people. But you could look up Trevor Noah who is a South African comedian working in USA - he makes a lot of jokes about this situation.
You could always make up your own word - for example call it Zing - we're a different Zing and then explain that.

Really? By whom? Where is this strange person that reads the first stories and what should we do to him / her?
But I think the entry that won Halloween was the very last entry submitted - so clearly that's the lucky spot!

I had been looking at the gallery, which seems fine now, but after PandaB5 mentioned products, I checked my free stuff. Some of those have fewer views than downloads so it appears those might have been affected. I don't know any totals on those though to be sure.
That's often the case on freebies - the downloads exceed the views because people download from the thumbnails directly and don't first have a look at the product.
