Thread: Bryce 5 Preview | Forum: Bryce
No one has commented on how wonderful metaballs will be..so decided I have too:D I've been serious thinking about switching to Vue, and ditching the Bryce bandwagon, because with Corel I thought it would be a sinking ship. But it appears to be greatly improved. A tree generator...looks great...not sure about the loose leaf placement I saw..but we shall see. I'm looking forward to being able to model with metaballs, thats been one of my complaints the lack of modeling capabilites, with metaballs I can think of so many ways of creating a face and animating it, lava flows looking all flowy..lol There quick solution to the rendering speed problems...rendering over a network is a nice idea, but hope they will eventually improve the rendering engine. The new lighting looks nice, I like the gradient ability. Well we shall see if its all that it is cracked up to be.

If anyone trys out both I would like to know, I can't afford to pay either $99 or $49.95 if it doesn't work no matter the price..its not worth it. Thanks Nick Future Bryce 5 upgrader:)

Joke: What you really need is an on-line tutorial...would show people how the program works, prior to purchasing it...of course a demo would be nice..but a tutorial would be great as well.

Rendering time has apparently been improved....theses statistics are without the network rendering from what I can guess...its from macworld..so only mac statistics.. G4 533/OS 9.1/385mb Ram Bryce 4.1 = 10:47 Bryce 5 = 9:31 (12% Faster) G4 533/OS X Final/ 385mb Ram Bryce 5 = 6:31 (40% faster) So I wouldn't cut Bryce out yet..the problem is the secretiveness (is that a word) of Corel..they should let some more information out..like e-on has. I put the link to that info in case people haven't seen it yet. I've thought of getting Vue4, I currently have Vue2 the free version from the many magazines it was available in. Its a versatile program..and I will eventually get it, but Bryce5 looks to offer a lot more useful feature upgrades then Vue4 does from Vue2, flare effect?? I don't need that, thats postwork! But not cutting Vue4 down, just saying metaballs for modeling, improved lighting effects I have seen and other things make Bryce the current want for me...but Vue4 is next on my list to buy:)Thread: I'm so confused!!! | Forum: Vue

That I agree with...corel has problems...but I do so love Bryce!! With metaballs I am thinking more along the lines of particle like effects..flowing water, and lava....

Its not really using the metaballs for modeling I am interested in and I have amorphium already:) but using the metaballs in animation...as I said ie. lava, water, driping faucet, drool, snot, you know the fun stuff...eventually I will end up buying both..just not sure which one first....a note: I was going to buy vue3 but I saw 4 was coming out so I waited...now Bryce5 is coming out..sigh...does the madness ever end....

Ditto with the hybrid renderer, Vue I think renders fine, it used to be very grainy, but its gotten a lot better, I have vue2 and even the images I creat in it come out "crisp";) I think I will end up getting both, but Bryce was my first 3D package...way back when dontcha know;) and hate to abandon a product I am so used too, got to expand the horizons though...use both:-D Still I think the demos, if and when they become available, will be the deciding factor.

Ok..yeah I dont know why it cancelled out some of my text up there...but this is what I meant to say: Pry you eyes away from the pretty new interface of Vue4 and answer some questions for me;) thanks... SolidGrowthâ„¢ 2 trade? can someone explain what they mean...? Symmetrical terrains. is this like symmetrical lattices in bryce? Mapped images can be rotated and inverted easily in the editors. just explain what they are talking about animation features? any new improvements I think that is it..thanks:) Nick
