Yes. That is the issue. Hexagon is attempting to move things symmetrically but the model is not completely symmetrical. What I'd suggest doing is cutting the model in half (down the center) and duplicating with symmetry. Weld the two sides and then manipulate it. Of course if you are attempting to create morph targets for Poser :) then this wouldn't work well for you:)
Thread: Hexagon Vs Silo | Forum: Carrara
Lets see. Silo: An excellent subdiv modeler but a bit lacking in key features (illustrator import, spline modeling, etc) Overall I'd say that it is a GREAT piece of software. Wings3d: For free its great. But I've always found it limiting in its modeling workflow. I like the concept of manipulators and of icons for functions used often. Icons work well in conjunction with shortcuts and shouldn't be eliminated all together. That said for free it can't be beat. Hexagon: Probally the easiest to pick up. At least it was for me and its very powerful. The replicating functions and dynamic geometry make it very flexible. If I had to choose between the three I'd pick Hexagon. Another excellent modeler that should be mentioned here is Modo. It will likely be my next purchase. Its flexible interface, macros, and scripting functions make it a versatile tool. Plus the addition of rendering and texturing tools bring it up a notch in my book. I'll likely keep Hexagon in my toolset as it does a lot of things faster then other programs I've used. And of course Carrara's speedy rendering and other features will keep me using it for a long long time.

"It still renders better than trueSpace. " Where did that come from? "It'd be nice if Hexagon, Amapi Pro, Carrara Pro, and Instant Viz were all just one Eovia 3D app with a new name for $495. " We can all dream.

Yeah that demo is awesome. Though from playing with VUE Infinite I wasn't that impressed, essentially the ecosystem tool they rave so much about is just a replication tool. Whoopdeedoo! Still a good program though. The solidgrowth is what I like, though the quality of the plants are not quite what I expected. And I was somewhat disappointed. Much better then Carrara's plant modeler though. "How faster does Shade render compared to Carrara? Carrara is showing its age by its slow render times. Vue 5 Infinite renders my GI scenes much faster than Carrara." Really? When I demoed it, the rendering speed didn't seem that different. "I'm personally looking forward to Carrara 5. I'm hoping they've taken some of the public requests to heart. " I am too. I've been pleasantly surprised with each new release of Carrara. People forget that Carrara was gone for a few years from development and the fact they are pretty much on par with a lot of the features available in other programs in there price range is amazing.

Pretty much my opinion of Shade. I'll admit that Carrara has weaknesses. But Shade...has some big ones. The scene management/navigation is one thing that I'd have to say didn't make any sense and is akward to use. Plus some of the things that Shade is toting and innovative is a joke. Magic sketch for instance is essentially the commercial version of Teddy (google it) and offers nothing innovative. As far as LW is concerned. I own 5.6 and have never been that interested in upgrading. Even with the Vue I deal it just doesn't seem that tempting. LW is powerful but with an interface that is still stuck in the Amiga days. And as nice as Vue is, besides its plant system I've never been that interested in it. I'll stick with Carrara. It gets the job done.

I think the difference is subtle. I remember an old comparison in which the example zoomed in on detail. I rarely use raytraced.

Now memory issues I agree with. There is still a memory leak in the VM. If you model for too long you need to restart Carrara to get the performance back.

I do find it odd how people have so many errors. I know that Carrara has some issues here and there. But some people seem to have a lot of problems. I've never had a release version of Carrara do a full on crash. I've had it freeze during physics calculations or during renderings with obscene render settings. And these are mostly due to the limits of my computer system and it not being able to handle the calculations.

I'm having the hardest time getting myself going on mine. I got sick during my last time off. Now I'm working 7 long 12 hour days. Hopefully my next week off, coming Wednesday I can devote some time to the project. Mike, do you have a messenger of some sort? Could use some help on specific things.

"It seems to be a problem with e-frontier, that still does not have the SDK (Software Developper Kit) available for the people that would have to update the Transposer 2 plugin. So, the support is not complete. But the majority of improvements in Poser 6 were the internal render capabilities. You have to have Poser5 to point C4's Transposer part to, to use it." -Its a bit more then that I think. The SDK is available but from the rumors I have heard it costs more then the current value of Transposer (ie. they'd likely have to greatly increase the prize of transposer and thus make it beyond the reach of most that would use it) This is all assumption on my part from various comments I've heard.
