Whenever you set a new HDR, Bryce defaults to 50 quality. Try making the quality 0, then working up in 5-10 at a time until you get a look you want, without the massive render time.

CD - the downloads from Daz are in 30-70 meg chunks, one of which is the bare program, the rest are content files.

It could be that there will be a single file installer on the CD release, but since the installers weigh in at over 400 meg, splitting them up was probably a good idea.

Select the billboard, click the 'A' button to get the attributes.
Under 'Linking' (the second tab), click the box saying 'None' under track object name, and select 'Perspective Camera'. It should work with +Z (default setting), but feel free to try the other settings to see if they're any better.

You could try making a tree with transparent leaves, then sticking a sphere with leaf textures on top.

That tree looks pretty good, and I'd imagine a fairly low render time. Might be worth checking out the billboards... (or make my own)

You can also use the ESC key to switch between render and wireframe modes (or render and mixed, if you've selected mixed).
