ron knights? ~evil grin~ I actually visit one forum, zero moderation. and almost no arguments. some extremely "spirited" disagreements. ;) actually has very few problem posts. so it does work. even with hot political discussions.. religion..environment..terrorism.
Thread: Free copy of Linspire | Forum: Community Center
if you don't want the wait and registration. Xandros is a near clone of linspire. right down to kde based gui setup. ( logos are different ) linspire was first released as "Lindows" http://distrowatch.com/ for most distros. another, very similar to linspire and xandros is vector. though vector is still a bit buggy, requiring editing the x config at console to get right resolution, and not liking some root passwords.

no, deleted postings are visible as deleted until after you mark as read. ( at least I can always see a deleted posting until I have read the forum and mark all read. )

naww the song is way to outdated.
they don't cut trees down any more.
or float them in water.
the cut the tops, and strip the branches off.
then cut all but 1/2 inch through the base.
then a helicopter grabs the tree and rips it out.
flys it to a nearby area where it can be loaded onto a truck.

and current medical technology is capable of creating a viable offspring from to parents of the same gender. ( if 2 males, they do need an ovum, which they use radiation to destroy the dna that was in it ) so what would the baby be called postmysql? gremysql? pmssql? or in potable water take a look at the microbes in water under a microscope, there are some really strange things in there. including one that penetrates it's prey / mate and eats it's dna, injecting it's own to make a whole bunch of new copies of itself. earthworms are another odd one, they get themselves pregnant. cut them up and you just make more of them. there is a doctor in microbiology that is spending her time trying to create a type of algae that will give off pure hydrogen. ( for generating hydrogen for fuel cells. ) all sorts of odd and strange creatures here that we barely know anything about. it wouldn't really be so strange for 2 programs to have babies. ;)

blender is free. carrera has a demo. look at both and pick the one that suits you better. look at as many as you want or can. there is no definitive 3D application. since each will work for some people and not for others. in the Modelling forum header are links to a number of different applications, most free. for getting feedback on specific apps, either the app's forum or the modelling forum will get a response from people that use the app much quicker. :) I personally don't like the carrera interface, and find blender's work flow to be to odd for me. so I can't recommend either, if it was me looking. yet I pointed someone who was wanting to work on a game at blender, and he loves it. ( box / subdivision modeller as well as game generator ) some people love silo ( newest version of carrera ) others prefer wings3d. some want Lightwave, others C4D, or Maya, or Max, or Rhino. look at demos, and pick the one that fits your workstyle and budget. has to be the best advice for 3d apps.

Thread: POD publishing vs traditional... Opinions? | Forum: Writers
I would have to say that going P.O.D. would depend on a couple of points. 1) The content type / size - For a small manuscript, or article on a specific subject, this would be a good way to get the publication credits. As well as being a means to getting bound hard copies for submitting to a specific group. ( Professional association ) the cost per copy would be lower than the traditional methods. 2) For the next "Great ' insert your country here ' Novel" - I would say use the traditional methods. 3) make sure that you register with the library of congress each item published with a p.o.d. this isbn numbers are a record that the publishing houses can access to see how much you have published, and what content mostly. this creates the record needed to gain the traditional publishers attention / respect for your works when submitting them.
