Just to say thank you for your generosity. I was over at PlanIT3D a couple of weeks ago and downloaded a nice selection of goodies.

Merci beaucoup, Alain. Not just for the beautiful Goelette models, but also the other fine objects on offer on your site.

Thanks a million, Thomas. I am yet another user who had not discovered the material distribution map feature! Its power and flexibility is immediately obvious, particularly when a quick experiment shows how it can be used in combination with all the other features such as height/slope dependency etc. and that you can use full-coloured pictures as maps as well (Vue automatically extracting the grey-scale information from these when used as a material map). This is going to make numerous effects possible that I previously would have added in post.

Thanks for that last one Guitta! It never ceases to amaze how one can use software like this for months and have a blind spot for some less frequently used items on the menu. I had totally forgotted these rotation and twist features existed. This FAQ section which I am slowly working my way through is proving very helpful and interesting.

Another problem solved! I've had this a few times, and always resorted to using the Clone Brush in PaintShop Pro to remove the artefact in post. Now I don't need to - thanks Guitta.

What a clever idea - though I shudder to think how long it must have taken you to set all this up. Thanks for something refreshingly different.

Am I glad I read to the end of this thread! Thanks for the link, Agiel - I had no idea such an archive existed. Searching around for where the link from the main Forum was (in the FAQ section) has also turned up a couple of other things I'd missed previously.

Thanks for the link, Smalltalk. I had a quick look and was amused by one odd feature of the price list. After being queried for my country of origin and replying UK, I was presented with a price list marked up in US dollars and Euros (treated as numerically equivalent). This is very worrying - does it signify that Tony Blair has already done surreptitious deals with America and/or Europe to change our currency to one or the other? ;)
